But Cyril is KGB.And,when i am wary of leftist,KGB is no answer for them.
And in Poland we had much of the same, priesthood
en masse collaborating with the Security Service apparatus. Heck, when the
Round Table talks took place, part of the deal between the Catholic Church with General Kiszczak (head of security apparatus) was that security apparatus files of priests would never see the light of day (so many of them collaborated...).
Even so, the Orthodox Church was able to continue a conservative course, while Polish Catholic Church is divided into two factions: openly pinko liberals and not so openly liberals. Actually conservative priests who want to cleanse the Church of paedophiles and other shit are either sidelined (Tadeusz Isakowicz-Zaleski, Dariusz Oko) or purged (Jacek Międlar).
Look at Russia - they could turn their country into second China, and become superpower again.
Reasons for Russian decline after Soviet breakup (or should I say,
controlled demolition) are... multi-layered and very complicated. The "West" gave Russia
all the help to make sure it stays weak and can never rise back up as challenger again.
Check out the Rape of Russia by William Engdahl.

Instead, they are blow up their own citizens, blame Czeczens, conqered them,AND....gave power there to dude who is turning Czeczen into islamists.
And all the above with the Chechens was still the
lesser evil. Karyrov is a moderate, hardcore ones fled Chechnya to Western Europe where they were given asylums, and now they form Sharia Patrols in Berlin for example.
Had Chechnya stay "free" it would have been
much worse. Western "mainstream media" will never tell this, but the Islamic State (of Syria / Levant and Iraq) was the
second attempt, first one was to be the Islamic State / Caliphate of Caucasus. Including Chechnya, Dagestan and adjacent.
Supporting islamic radicalism as means of destabilising Russian "near abroad" esp. along the southern borders is a Western sport since Soviet intervention in Afghanistan (even if using Gulf States money and as intermediaries), and islamic radicalism nested in Caucasus would have been of enormous value / use in keeping pressure up on Russia, thus reducing it's "elbow room", and forcing it to dance to Western tune.
Remember how the West decried Russian wars on Chechnya? Cheerfully ignoring that the "brave free Chechens" that
heroically fought against Russia
weren't in favour of liberal democracy, religious tolerance (how many Churches in Saudi Arabia again?) and gay rights in Western flavour, they wanted an Islamic Caliphate, as we saw made for a time in Iraq / Syria (gays and infidels having the
right to be
executed).
Hell, I personally knew a guy (Polish Tatar) with a hate-boner against Russia (though otherwise a very nice guy) who helped Chechens settle down in Poland after they lost the war and fled, and guess what? When the
second attempt to create an Islamic State was being made, when word came that a
new Caliphate is being forged, (this time in Syria / Iraq)
they all packed up and left to fight. I trust I need not explain on
which side, yes?
They could made bussines with Japan, which would cost them Kurile islands
Assuming that Japan would be
permitted to do so, which is by no means a given.
Also, look at the map to see why this handover
isn't going to happen. Kuril Islands
not in Russian hands means the Sea of Okhotsk is effectively a closed basin.
and instead choose China which is taking Syberia from them.
Overblown.
