Time for a new round of anime game censorship on Steam! I think we can safely say their promise to not do this crap anymore was a load of bunk; and if they're dead set on censoring games based solely on their art style? Then I find myself even more justified in boycotting Steam, which I have done for many years at this point.
Knowing Japanese visual novels and the Steam guidelines for such games, I don't feel bad for them, because the most likely reason they were rejected was because of intentionally dubiously underage girls.
This has nothing to do with the art style.
This also has less to do with any mandated censorship on Steams part and more to do with the fact that there Steam is a very small company in terms of the number of employees. Probably 500 at most.
So they have
maybe 10 people handling all the analysis on which games are breaking the rules and which aren't, along with a couple of lawyers they can call and ask advice on if a liability issue comes up. Since there are only 10 people, which person you get handling your game is a really big deal.
Then I find myself even more justified in boycotting Steam, which I have done for many years at this point.
Also, I find this an incredibly toxic and standard leftist view of thinking. Some company does one thing you disagree with, time to boycott?
You do realize Steam is probably one of the few places one can be openly conservative? I have friends that post reviews criticizing games for SJW views or content, they get either ambivalence or support.
The reality is that VN content is itself primarily left wing on Steam, Steam is incredibly friendly towards conservatives (and those who want to speak their mind in general), I don't see why y'all feel the need to feel outrage about them banning a bunch of trash (and probably extremely degenerate and possibly literally illegal because CP) VNs. Very leftist of you.
Edit: Also, boycotting Steam for censorship is ridiculously because literally everyone else censors stuff more than Steam. There's no one who sensors less.
