Honestly, things keep on sounding like the settings and backstories of Tom Kratman’s Caliphate and Kurt Schlichter’s Kelly Turnbull series
Hell, the prequel “Indian Country” involved the Far Left’s thugs and something like this proposed replacement invading the rurals and intensifying their control and insane PC Culture whilst smashing random shit, looting and calling the rurals all manner of things
They then had trouble the moment the rurals actually brought their guns out and way too many of their fanatics weren’t fanatical enough to risk and lose their lives against people willing to fight back and risk theirs

I’m not sure about you, but I think a good portion of your armed forces and federal employees in-action may come to hate the latter....particularly when they attempt to bail out said “protestors” and demonize them
