That's just your perception, in general this year would have a hard time getting into worst 10 list of the years between 1920-2020
Well of course we base it on lived experience.
Over all, this is the worst one I can remember in my 34 years.
I'm lucky in that despite all the general shitty stuff going on, on a personal level it's one of my best years. Weird how that works, isn't it? It's simultaneously one of the worst years I can ever remember on a macro scale, but down here on the personal level I am thriving. I've lost 35 more pounds, making a total of 85. I'm stronger than ever, cardio is better than ever, brought "critical hypertension" down to a super healthy, lower than average American blood pressure, without drugs. I've made leaps and bounds on a personal development level. All while the world is crumbling around me. Strange times. Strange how I thrive in these times. Maybe all the craziness around me puts things into perspective and keeps me motivated. Maybe I just thrive under pressure, while normal times makes me soft and complacent? I don't know.
But anyways. Yeah, there are worse years that have happened, but people are going to base it on lived experience. This is the worst year on record for pretty much most people under, what, 40 maybe? It just feels relentless. One thing after another, and with the two big ones (covid/BLM riots) looming overheard constantly, little things seem to impact us more. People are on edge.
