Any restriction of the freedom to express oneself - insofar as the life, liberty and property of others are not infringed upon - is fundamentally wrong. For this reason, all right-thinking people should oppose it.
This, incidentally, does not stop you from still being a bastard later, and using it against the evil fools who passed it in the first place. In fact, doing so is not immoral, because men can't rightfully claim the natural rights they deny others. By violating those of others, they abrogate their own. So using their own sword against them is fully justified.
If you join them in facilitating the violation to begin with, however, you are just as culpable. And it gains you nothing. After all: if your argument is that it'll happen anyway, then you don't need to help make it happen. So oppose the forging of the evil weapon. If your opposition succeeds, good! And if it doesn't... then cut down its creators with their own instrument.
