Apparently it was fake blood, however, it just goes to show that no matter how far to the left you are, the crazies want to dance at your expense.
Fun things include the news-media uncritically repeating the idea that it is "non violent" to storm the stage and throw fake blood around and steal the mic, and of course the charming fact that everyone involved is apparently a Bernie supporter, but thinks he isn't going far enough, and that these antics will somehow help him. "Direct Action Everywhere" might as well be a dummy stereotype of a right-wing joke of what a left-wing organisation is, but don't worry, it really exists.
As Sanders spoke to his supporters at a rally in Carson City, a group of women, some topless, taking part in a demonstration organized by the animal rights group Direct Action Everywhere stormed the stage. The group, an international grassroots network founded in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2013, often stages similar non-violent disruptive protests with animal rights activists.
"Bernie I'm your biggest supporter and I'm here to ask you to stop propping up the dairy industry and stop propping up animal agriculture," said Priya Sawhney, one of the protesters after attempting to wrestle away Sanders' microphone. Sanders pulled the mic away and she quickly used another on the podium.
