Important CRITICAL COMMUNITY UPDATE

This web forum and community was founded to promote civil discourse and free exchange of ideas. What it was not made for was to be a playpen for toxic posters to mock, abuse, and disrupt the community, hiding behind "free speech" as a defense for this behavior.

And yet, we have had a number of posters who have treated it as such. Who believe they have the right to attack the volunteer staff, to attack their fellow posters, to violate the rules and TOS, and to promote trollish behavior or vicious attitudes, and that we cannot punish them without violating the mission of The Sietch.

We have tried to be tolerant with them, using lesser punishments to highlight the limits they scorn, but all that has done has won us further derision and an increased devotion to breaking the rules.

As such, the administration staff, with the acceptance of the site ownership, has determined that these following posters will be permanently banned for such behavior:

We hope that this will make clear that there will be zero tolerance of such posting, and that it will encourage people to follow the spirit with which The Sietch was founded and convince others to join the community.

You can argue passionately, you can discuss energetically, but just throwing verbal diarrhea around to goad people you don't like, flaunting disrespect of the rules and ToS, and behaving in an entitled fashion? No.

The fact that the Staff has allowed the situation to grow to the degree that it has is the fault of the staff and ownership, and for that we apologize. We need to start doing better by you, and that is going to require the staff to step up. Please give us time while we do so.

As a further note, it is the opinion of Belter Alliance Media LLC that the posting or sharing of Q, Q-anon, and all related content is detrimental to the market interests of Belter Alliance Media LLC, and thus will be considered a violation of the Terms of Service under 3J.

First The Boot would like to make a few announcements. For the purposes of the policy regarding QAnon. Any material that is solely, exclusively, and directly sourced from QAnon shall be considered a violation of ToS 3f and 3h, insofar as it is pure conspiratorial nonsense which does nothing but raise community tension. However, this does not apply to general topics that just so happen to be touched by the Qanon conspiracy theory. No poster who otherwise follows the ToS and rules of the Sietch will be infracted for anything under the QAnon ban except for direct, explicit, and exclusively sourced material from QAnon.

Second. Civility rules enforcement shall continue to operate as it has, but with somewhat greater focus on moderators monitoring content rather than solely relying on reports from the userbase. Please be aware that we do not make use of points, and that even threadbans should be considered more akin to a night in the drunk tank than a jail sentence.
