As you might have noted, I specified the urban population in the post you quoted. In the inner cities, relatively few people actually need to drive that much. They still get driver's licenses or sometimes just state-issued ID for purposes like buying liquor or opening a bank account and such. A free National ID would let them use that and no longer have to enjoy the comfort and efficiency of the DMV office and the expense of paying for a state ID.

In rural areas of course everybody drives and they'd keep using them.
In my neck of the woods you need two forms of valid govenment ID and a verified address just to get a photo ID.

I am Main Propulsion plant NEC qualified. I also served on the USS Nicholson DD 982 (The Nasty Nick). I know exactly what I am talking about.
When I was in my 20's I was responsible for making sure that Eli Lilly and Rolls Royce (along with half of Indianapolis) didn't lose electricity and there wasn't enough money or time in the budget for me to draw everything they way I wanted to do it.

I also know exactly what I'm doing.

IIRC isn't there then a detent past which is Emergency? I know according to Friedman in US Destroyers that the plant is designed for a 25% margin over rated output for emergency situations which I believe is standard for all naval plants. Is that accurate?

Honestly, Bintanarth, Sailor X has infinitely more credibility as a former watchstander with relevant subject matter experience than you do
Sailor X probably also can't say "You could fit all of the aircraft carrers the British had in 1939 inside of this building footprint with room to spare." when looking at a set of design drawings.

I can.

Have you worked on said systems like he has?
Hospitals, schools and stadiums with the occasional powerplant tossed in. That's what I design.

You need an OR? I'll need about 5 minutes, tops, to look up what the correct air change rate should be.

And Sailor has literally worked on them and knows them inside and out.
Trust me, you may design something but you ain't the one who uses it...

When St. Peter is deciding if you are worthy enough to be admitted to heaven your soul and all of your sins will be weighed and compared to the weight of an Angel's feather (a floe of an Angel's hair in some versions).

If your soul and sins aren't lighter than that you're going straight to hell and eternal damnation.
That's not how that works. To quote from the Catechism,

"
1021 Death puts an end to human life as the time open to either accepting or rejecting the divine grace manifested in Christ. The New Testament speaks of judgment primarily in its aspect of the final encounter with Christ in his second coming, but also repeatedly affirms that each will be rewarded immediately after death in accordance with his works and faith. The parable of the poor man Lazarus and the words of Christ on the cross to the good thief, as well as other New Testament texts speak of a final destiny of the soul—a destiny which can be different for some and for others.

1022 Each man receives his eternal retribution in his immortal soul at the very moment of his death, in a particular judgment that refers his life to Christ: either entrance into the blessedness of heaven—through a purification or immediately—or immediate and everlasting damnation.

"

What you describe is some bizzare mixture of Ancient Egyptian Paganism and pseudo-Catholic folk religion.

You and I believe different things about what happens to your soul when your body is dead and gone forever.

Unless there's a reason why they can't, such as being disabled/ill, people need to get off their asses and work for their food, shelter, and clothing. That's the brutal reality/way of the world, ever since we were shit-flinging apes living in caves.

If they have trouble doing so (even with something as simple as just needing help to find a job), helping them is a thing I'm fully behind, but a lot of people on the Left don't want this: they have the attitude of "I want your shit that you worked hard for, so give it to me despite the fact I've done fuck all myself" while using every trick in the book to jackboot people they disagree with... which, ya know (looks at Soviet Union, Mao China...).

We see this as clear as day with the "Reparations!" crowd and/or BLM.
The homeless guy my family looks out for can't stand for more than about an hour or two, so that rules out everything but a desk job. He walked away from a desk job over a decade ago because he doesn't have the patience for a desk job and didn't want to be remembered for "going postal".

And that's a person that needs help, which I'm fully onboard with.

However, what you need to realize is that most people on the Left aren't in those sort of situations. It's a generalization, sure, but it's not exactly an inaccurate one.

They just want free shit -- your shit -- for one reason or another that has nothing to do with them actually needing help.

Senegal seems to have a good military for a country that is ~96% Muslim. They also aren't Arabs. They're West African and the Senegalese I've met in the US aren't all that different - skin colour and French accent aside - from someone white who grew up in the US.

Arab and Muslim can be interchangeable to those who don't know that not all Muslims are Arabs and that not all Arabs are Muslims. See: Coptic Christians, for example.

I wonder what percentage of Senegalese immigrants to the US come from Senegal's cognitive elite.
