The Fall of the Roman Republic, more specifically. Don’t have too many “scholarly” references handy at the moment, but if you just want the headlines, Extra Credits has a decent overview of the Gracchi and their shouty rabble-rousing, cartoony animatics and all.
Thank you. I actually enjoy reading ancient history.

@Cherico unfortunately finding complete records of the old Chinese Dynasties is hard to do because a lot of the records require paying the CCP exorbitant fees, bribing the right officials. Even then you need to take the official translations with a shovel of salt because the CCP randomly redacts or changes anything they deem detrimental to CCP legitimacy. As reported by many foreign scholars even primary documents aren't safe from this tampering. Many research universities have found independently acquired records from pre-CCP China and copies obtained from post-CCP China have significant differences.

It's hard to believe a people would deliberately destroy their own history. Then again Mao was infamous for doing so and the Party carries on his work.

When the era of the CCP ends and people are able to take an honest look at that era Mao will be considered by the chinese people to be the monster that he is. Unfortantly they cant get back a lot of what makes the chinese people chinese until the CCP is gone.

On the plus side I think thats going to happen this century and I have high hopes that the next chinese regieme will be a lot more honorable.

I am more pessimistic. Every Chinese regime has been a disaster for the region. When they're strong they invade and subjugate everything around them. They only respect strength from those they consider barbarians. Which is everyone outside the Middle Kingdom. Even their histories speak in this manner of outsiders. Including the ancestors of modern Vietnam from whom the Chinese hailed as masters of deep water sailing and metalworking, while at the same time deriding them as long haired, fur wearing, painted (tattoed) barbarians.

Seems the only way for China to function is by pressing the boot of a foreigner onto their face. Or let Taiwan take over, but they will probably repeat history...

for a great deal of chinese history they were the single most advanced country on the planet and their view of others being barbarians compared to them was honestly accurate.

For most yes. But not all. Even then when they meet an equally advanced culture they call them barbarians and if they aren't militarily powerful enough to resist China invades and subjugates them. Taking any advancements for their own

Probably not the place to discuss it, but there are honestly times when I wonder if a China that industrialized early and built its own colonial empire abroad would’ve behaved just as badly as (if not worse than) the European empires IOTL. After all, they seem to have had the right kind of xenophobic arrogance to do that, if not the technological lead or expansionist ambitions until quite recently.

I don’t doubt it. Human nature is rather unchanging no matter where and when you are.

The absolute hypocrisy of this Castro Jr.

At least he's being roasted, even if they really hired up the bot farms for those likes.

Canada's international reputation will forever be damaged. Even if it's never said aloud, what leader would take Canada seriously when we used the Emergencies Act over parked trucks?
