Oh, lovely. They've sent me a mo-ron.
Medical safe space?
Corona Chan is laughing all the way to the airport.
Lots of bodybags.
This is...........
A medieval response but rather mild. They don't whip themselves, do bloodletting to relive their humors or blame the Jews to start pogrom.
This gets even worse! This thing is like a sci-fi pathogen, holy shit.
It could be behaving something like a bacteriophage and entering into a symbiotic relationship with your gut's own prevotella bacteria.
Hating on the Jews is easy there but I don't know the rest because I haven't heard of it.In Iran they already do at least two out of three of those anyway.
Yeah...and even after being told masks are useless, soldiers here in Korea are thinking it is cool
Oddly enough, it is pretty tame here where I am in Korea, with the virus being aboutGlad that some are finally bringing some sanity to this thread, or trying to at least. As a biomed tech working in a hospital, trust me, it's appreciated.
I may have said it already, but I'll say it again. Viruses worry me, but I think we'll be okay. People, however....people, to paraphrase a quote from Men in Black, are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and we know it. People that do rash, stupid things scare me. Let's not be dumb, panicky dangerous animals then, and be sensible about all this folks. Remember, good hygiene and taking care of oneself goes a LONG way.
We're not stupid; we know what the official statistics say. Personally, I just don't believe they're at all accurate; China is definitely lying, and the WHO is notoriously corrupt. Besides; the simple fact of the matter is that not enough time has passed for any attempt at statistical analysis to have much weight, and trying to compare the Corona virus to the flu as things stand is just downright disingenuous. The flu is everywhere, the Corona virus isn't (yet).WHO Report of March 2, 2020.
Total number of cases (confirmed) in China - 80,174.
Total number of deaths (confirmed) in China - 2,915.
Total number of cases (confirmed) outside of China - 8,774.
Total number of deaths (confirmed) outside of China - 128.
This leads to a confirmed Death Rate in China of ~3% and a confirmed Death Rate outside of China of ~1%
In the United States, the CDC rates this years flu season as 'moderate to low, with a death rate of 6.9%, 32 million cases, 310,000 hospitalizations, and 18,000 deaths. This is not a flu epidemic year (below the threshold of 7.3%). Note that 125 of those deaths are pediatric.

Aside from perhaps TrainDodger, I'd argue this thread has acted perfectly sane thus far; and even he has managed to provide sufficient justification for his worry, from my perspective.Glad that some are finally bringing some sanity to this thread, or trying to at least. With due respect, this is completely unhelpful.WHO Report of March 2, 2020.

Speaking of CCP lying out their asses:A) It depends on trusting the numbers the CCP are giving out; everyone knows that they've been lying out there ass's about the actual number of cases and deaths.
Amid a national lockdown, desperate patients, anger at a cover-up, an economic crisis, and a virus breaking beyond its own borders, the Chinese government’s priorities were clear: It was time to publish a glossy book on how wonderful Beijing’s handling of the virus has been.
Even though I know most of that is meant to be internal propaganda I can't help but laugh at how China seems to think this is somehow going to manage to let it salvage it's reputation with foreigners. Even without it's citizens leaking images and videos like a sieve printing blatant propaganda literally mid epidemic doesn't work when people can literally see the disruption the epidemic is causing you.Speaking of CCP lying out their asses:

I don't know how bad this stuff is for immune systems, but it's certainly not good, and also there is the shisha smoking factor, probably makes lungs more vulnerable too...According to UN figures, some 2.2 percent of Iranian adults are addicted to drugs, the highest rate in the world. Experts elsewhere say that number could be much higher, reaching 5 percent of the total Iranian population, the Globe and Mail reported. That would mean of roughly 80 million Iranians, 4 million are hooked on drugs.
Would also explain why China is getting hit so hard on top of everything else. I can’t imagine all that air pollution is good for people’s lungs.I have a theory on why Iran may be getting hit unusually bad - it's the world leader in...
drug addiction. Yeah, you wouldn't expect it from a friggin middle eastern theocracy, but it's true.
I don't know how bad this stuff is for immune systems, but it's certainly not good, and also there is the shisha smoking factor, probably makes lungs more vulnerable too...
So that would be additional 2-5% of mostly young population being unusually vulnerable to the virus.
I hate to break it, only full body hazmat and Jsuits would work... so gas masks dont work the bestSo apparently the reason our government agency has no adequate protection (masks, hot water, sanitizer) and behavioral guidelines is that... nobody has yet raised hell about these things? 🤬 No really, it seems nobody of the rank and file bothered to open their mouths and complain about the danger that whole things posed to employees and asylum applicants.I'm not sure who I'm more mad about right now: myself, for only opening my trap now (well, last week monday for the first time, to be precise, but the real game changer happened today); everybody else of the 10.000 other employees blithely trudging on, being passive sheep; or leadership - the ones actually paid to prepare and plan for these things - doing nothing!?!
Well, turns out that all you needed to get the ball rolling was good ol' Culsu making it clear to the local department head that he would no longer take on cases that showed clear signs of sickness and/or came illegally from high-risk zones like Italy or affected nations like Iran. And lo and behold, twenty minutes later: "We're getting you FFP3 masks and are completely redoing our take-in process." Nice. Now give me your salaries, 'cause I'm apparently doing half the stuff you're being paid for...
