Well, there is a faction which embraces, grey, blocky, unadorned styles - the Empire.

We only really see that in interior design. Palpatine's Palace was not brutalist and nor are, for example, Imperial Star Bases. But I grant that relies on the Legends canon that Disney tore up.

For me one of the worst buildings is the abomination that is the Scottish Parliament building...

At least it'll go away relatively soon.

The controversial Scottish Parliament building could reach the end of its “useful life” by 2060, it has been revealed.

Just days after politicians celebrated the 20th anniversary of the vote on devolution, architectural experts have warned that MSPs could be forced to find another home or approve a massive refit of the building.

A Scottish Parliament corporate body report also reveals that the building is currently worth only £304million - despite having cost £414million to build.

Yet another example of the failings of modernist architecture. Or is it a feature?

30 year life cycle is mentioned in the article, to keep the business going.
The building is an abomination, made even worse by the fact that is right next to Holyrood palace. It can be seen from the pictures that functionality of the building is abyssmal and there are countless water traps, ensuring that the trapped humidity acclerates the degeneration of building materials. If you gave a five year child a bucket of LEGOs and ask it to make a building, it would make better design in at least 9 out of 10 cases.

Earlier in the thread I mentioned how my church is fully traditional on the interior and mentioned the improvements that we had planned. I've found pics!

I'll note that we DO still have all the modern conveniences ^_^

Current interior (apart from the High Altar where the Tabernacle is, the Tabernacle has been replaced with an absolutely gorgeous gold one and is now flanked by candles)

One of the proposed designs for the interior decor, and the one that I personally favor

Not my denomination, but I think the plain white interior looks better. The proposed decorations would just seen too cluttered to me. Cluttered and distracting.
And those pews look like they really need an aisle or two made through them.

Highly ornate interiors are traditional for Catholic churches, especially those built in the basilican form.

There is a central aisle, just with the angle you can't see it. And the pews are further split by a traverse aisle at the side narthex. In fact, the photo is taken in that traverse aisle (you can see one of the confessionals, the side narthex is just off camera to the left, then there's another confessional. Each confessional has a separated kneeling and sitting area for both privacy and safe environment requirements.

Head over heels in love :)
In the case of the Scottish Parliament it didn't help that the architect died part way through, of a brain tumour. His wife was given the go ahead to proceed. Granted she was also an architect, but the whole project reeked of controversy and was vastly over time and over budget. It had been proposed that instead the old Scottish Assembly chamber, or some other building been used but instead this was pushed forward. Not long after there was an incident with a supporting beam in the main chamber came loose.
