The Barr House Committee hearing

Tiamat

I've seen the future...
So, did anyone watch the Barr hearing today, or are watching it? What was your impressions or takeaways?

I haven't watched all of it yet....I don't want my blood pressure to rise any further considering I've already had a tough day at the hospital. What I did see....good God, I don't know how the hell Barr was able to keep his composure such as it was, I have never seen a bigger group of self-righteous hypocrite condescending assholes in one room. It wasn't even a hearing from what I could see.

I haven't seen it yet, but according to Tim Poole, Bar utterly roasted the Dems on the committee. When he got a chance to actually speak.

And then there is Jim Jordan getting to the bottom of the unmasking of Micheal Flynn.

It was filled with many lol's apparently.

Here are some highlights...

RECLAIMING MY TIME Drinking Game

William Barr is OUTED as a REPUBLICAN by a Senator from PA who promised to work across the aisle with Republicans back in 2018...

Senator Jordan: "It is permissible to drink some coffee?"
Jerry Nadler: "It is not permissible!"
*GAVEL SMASH*

Senator Jordan: "Why don't you let him answer the questions?"
Jerry Nadler: "Your rudeness is irrelevant!"
*GAVEL SMASH*

"This is a hearing, I thought I was supposed to be heard..."
No... that is not the purpose of a Congressional Hearing...

Man between Barr and Nadler, who knew how grumpy Hobbits could get when they get older...

But yes, this morning one of the talk radio guys played like a dozen lolworthy clips of Democratic Senators getting dunked on by Attorney General Barr during the five hour testimony.

Why does him speaking over a woman mean anything? Are women too weak to handle that kind of disrespect? According to her he spoke over men too (From what I've seen, the democrats were more like a petulant bunch of children trying to talk over Barr who's clearly better at the game than they are). Are weomen not able to hold themselves together against a man who is responding tersely to a jumped up load of bullshit? Are women so pathetically incapable that men need to silence and speak softly around them? And who cares about the colour of his support staff. That's an incredibly racist thing to comment on though it's clearly not because Barr's racist but because it's a stick she can try to beat him into silence with. How can anyone just look at that blatant ad hominem and not call out at her using minorities as a means of attacking someone?

When Nadler told dude he couldn't have coffee. He should've got up and smacked him in the mouth. We used to have fist fights in congress so it's a tradition anyway.
Was it coffee? I just heard him ask for a 5 minute break. I assumed he had to take a piss, and was told no, until Rep. Jordan jumped in and called out how it's a basic courtesy to grant 5 minute breaks.

Not Barr one of the congressmen took a drink. Then Nadler had a fit about masks and such.
Oh okay. So as for what I was thinking about: Telling Barr no to a 5 minute break to likely use the restroom was a real dick move. Jordan called them out and he changed his mind and let him have the break. It's ridiculous to even say no though. They're in that room for hours and Barr is old. Let the man use the damn restroom.

I was waiting for this moment of testimony but it never came. 😢

William Barr: Hear me, my masters, and my common friends.
Let me speak, I have been Attorney General, and can show for America
Her enemies' marks upon me.
I do love my country's good with a respect more tender!
More holy and profound, than mine own life!

Democratic Senator: I reclaim my time! I reclaim my time; let him away!
He's banish'd, and I reclaim my time!

William Barr: "You common cry of curs! whose breath I hate
As reek o' the rotten fens, whose loves I prize
As the dead carcasses of unburied men
That do corrupt my air, I banish you;
And here remain with your uncertainty!
Let every feeble rumour shake your hearts!
Your enemies, with nodding of their plumes,
Fan you into despair! Have the power still
To banish your defenders; till at length
Your ignorance, which finds not till it feels,
Making not reservation of yourselves,
Still your own foes, deliver you as most
Abated captives to some nation
That won you without blows!
Despising For you, the cities, thus I turn my back:
There is a world elsewhere.
MAGA!"

Its an issue cause feminism. As per feminism, men cannot correct women or dare to speak up against them as thats toxic masculinity and patriarchy. Women are right about everything.

That is actually a longstanding rule in both the House and the Senate, and everyone in Washington knows it. You can only have water in the House, and water or milk in the Senate.
$100 says he wouldn't have said anything to one of the Dems. Also what's the justification for that rule?

You'd lose; Representative Conor Lamb (a Democrat) was prevented from entering the House on his first day because he was carrying a cup of coffee. Ensuring that members of Congress do not carry prohibited items onto the floor is in fact one of the formal duties of the cloakroom staff and door guards, and they take it very seriously.

Also what's the justification for that rule?

Eating and drinking are not allowed as a matter of formal decorum; water is allowed because people get pretty parched during long speeches, and milk is allowed in the Senate because one Senator famously asked for it on the record in 1966.

The Senate has much stricter formal rules than the House because Thomas Jefferson wrote an entire freaking formal rulebook for the Senate while he was Vice President, out of sheer boredom as he had little in the way of *actual duties* when presiding over the Senate.

If they stop you at the entrance then how'd he have it? He was clearly past the cloakroom.

I can actually buy this. And I had no objections to Nadler rejecting the Coffee. Though the Caffine purist in me weeps at this.
