Surprised no one took it to the Supreme Court, although the 9th Circuit's thing is apparently "grab a full en banc panel to kill any 3 judge en banc pro-gun ruling."

Nitpick: A three judge ruling is by definition not en banc. En banc is a discretionary appeal internal to the circuit, and is an interesting tradition because neither the prosecution nor the defense can actually make an appeal to it -- it has to be initiated by one of the judges on the circuit.

a win in illinois, the foid card has been stuck down (for now at least)
link to the judges opinion

It's a pretty limited win, but a good one nonetheless.

Supreme Court passed on this bump stock case, but since there's a better one from the Sixth Circuit that targets Chevron Deference, this one getting dropped isn't a surprise:

You know...Gun Control reminds me of the scene from Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix. Where Umbridge tells the students that they don't need to protect themselves they can call an Auror to do it for them.

Coincidence? I mean telling us that the police will protect us and that we don't need weapons to do so. Yet what did 2020 show us?

Harry Potter is one of the most hilariously pro-2A stories out there. The parallel isn't even subtle, the only reason most leftist HP fans aren't already aware of it is because of how ideologically blind they are.

Funny thing is Rowling is British.

Also, the completely draconian gun control laws in the UK are a product of the late 90's.

Point of clarification: the Firearms Act of 1968 is still the primary UK gun control law to this day, but the 1988 and 1997 amendments were what upped it to a near-total ban.

I know!

Also, the completely draconian gun control laws in the UK are a product of the late 90's. When she started writing, it was still reasonably possible for a private citizen to own a gun without being a criminal.
It was also around the time that the UK had a boner for prosecuting self defense.

The saddest thing is, apparently it wasn't always this way. There used to be a time when it was expected of Britain's citizens to be armed and trained.

world war one basically ruined everything didnt it?
One can make a strong case for that, for Europe at least. That said, a lot of what has ailed Western society developed earlier than that, Marxism predates it, and the US Progressive movement of the early 20th century that basically fucked everything up happened quite independently of (and began before) WW1.

But basically if it wasn't WW1 that messed it up, it was the early 20th century Progressive Movement and Woodrow Wilson...

If it wasn't for him, the US might have sided with Germany as we should have.
Or at the very least remained neutral and told everyone that if they wanted to trade with them there would be no interference with American merchant shipping
