    The Political Problem of Pornography

Well, there is no going back that is true. The future in the only way forward, and the right needs to be open not to emulate the left but to acknowledge the changing world and to accommodate it. Ultimately, we should stand for our values regardless of whether or not those values involve...

    The Political Problem of Pornography

I think that may actually be one big reason why modern conservatives are so ineffectual. The left has been winning battles, dominating institutions, and changing society for a century and the supposed right is more than happy to defend the status quo that the left has created. If the right is...

    The Political Problem of Pornography

“Regressive left” was a rather unfortunate insult that conservatives came up with to describe particularly authoritarian leftists. I would rather they be called extreme leftists, authoritarian leftists, or even the “control left” as a clever play off of the “alt right.” Calling them the...

    The Political Problem of Pornography

I’m to point of just assuming you’re arguing in bad faith since you keep putting words in my mouth and pretending that I’ve said the very opposite of what I actually did say.

    The Political Problem of Pornography

Once again, you’re distorting my argument. I’m not saying that pornography should be outlawed. I think that it should be legal. But thinking that something should be legal is different from thinking that it has no potentially negative effects. Of course people should and can differentiate...

    The Political Problem of Pornography

I‘m not saying that there should be censorship, but there is some middle ground between saying that porn is fine and good and having draconian laws banning it. Of course bad parenting is a worse problem than the prevalence of pornography, but it influences lots of other issues as well, but we...

    The Political Problem of Pornography

I’m not necessarily making a positive claim, but I am discussing the possibility of negative side-effects from pornography. Certainly people do have the filter you discuss, and there is a clear distinction between fantasy violence and real violence. With the fantasy violence, there are no...

    The Political Problem of Pornography

I’m not sure if I’d say that, especially as how pornography exists within our modern society. What effect is it having on our nation when the typical man’s first experience of sex is watching pornography at the age of 10? What effect is it having on our nation if the typical woman’s first...

    The Political Problem of Pornography

Regardless of whether or not you consider pre-columbian Native Americans to have civilization, the nation called The United States of America wasn’t created by Natuve Americans, it was created by white people. White people who were mostly British and mostly Christian and who were, by a...

    The Political Problem of Pornography

Or, maybe killing people into having freedom and democracy is actually bad and doesn’t work. Though we never invaded South Africa, just put economic and political pressure on them. Anyway, this is a tangent.

    The Political Problem of Pornography

I think that we did that back in the early 1990’s and it didn’t work out too well.

    The Political Problem of Pornography

To clarify my above post, I am against outlawing pornography. I am in favor of people choosing, and encouraging others to choose, not to partake in activities which are harmful to themselves and their society. Also, that parents should actually parent their kids. The government is not going to...

    The Political Problem of Pornography

One can think that people have the right to do as they please with their own bodies while still thinking that pornography is a big problem, as well as other sorts of completely consensual sexual (mis)behaviors. Conservatives are probably not going to get any laws passed our way in the near...

    The Political Problem of Pornography

Why do you assume that people have to engage in something to not want it to be outlawed? There are people who don’t view pornography who think it should be legal. There are people who don’t take drugs who think that drugs should be legalized. There are straight people who think that gays...

    The Political Problem of Pornography

Bring her on, I’ll tell her. Of course, most western women would get mad if you told them that. That doesn’t mean it isn’t true. If the typical woman knew what she wanted, women wouldn’t be getting increasingly unhappy as more and more of our demands are being met.

    The Political Problem of Pornography

Oh, I agree, people should have the freedom to live as they desire. Though I think that we would be better off if patriarchal values were more widely embraced and reinforced through social pressure.

    The Political Problem of Pornography

That is what I believe. Men and women are both extremely important to maintaining society, neither can be said to be more important than the other because they (and their respective complementary roles) are both necessary.

    The Political Problem of Pornography

Well, we agree that the workplace is where men should be and the home where women should be. I can’t emphasize strongly enough that people who undervalue the important of the home are wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong. Women abdicating their roles as mothers, homemakers, caretakers, and teachers of...

    The Political Problem of Pornography

I would agree that gender egalitarianism has been particularly destructive in that it’s broken down gender roles and done damage to the family. Ideally men should be the bread winners with women bearing and raising children, with men as leaders of society and women subservient to more dominant men.
