I think Galtieri was bipolar (And very likely schizophrenic.) and self medicated with alcohol and tranquilizers. I think Videla had some form of high functioning autism and a good amount of other neurological issues and he was thrust into the power position when he really didn't want it nor was ready for it even though he initiated it.

His body language is that of a cornered animal and when he gave speeches he could barely look at the mic much less the cameras.

I think Videla was a...natural response to the insane brutality of leftwing activists and the psycho furry and his gaggle of escaped mental patients and literal Witch Doctors that was the Tres A on the other side.

Then you have the Tacuara movement, which was basically just a bunch of upper middle class fratbros larping as Falangiast domestic terrorists..who..damn near "won" their little revolution..somehow.

Argentina had benevolent Dictators before..De Rosas, Aramburu and arguably..maybe Menem who I consider a soft power tyrant. But the Junta from the 70's was full of literal occultists and mental patients View attachment 1348

Stroessner also employed more people than anyone in Paraguay's history and hilariously overthrew the Government to protect students from police brutality if I'm remembering their version of events and not the Associated Press's nonsense.

He's a fascinatingly contradictory guy. The new Milico from Guinea who overthrew that Globalist shill reminds me a lot of what I know of Stroessner.

Not that Stroessner was a good dude, just that, he was the least shitty option for Paraguay and then overstayed his welcome.
The same Aramburu, who was kidnapped by crazed Peronistsas and shot to death.

Speaking of Videla: currently doing a segment on him in the Reagan assassination timeline right now, but not tipping my hand on how it ends.

PS: Videla was mysteriously kidnapped in an earlier segment.

Look what I've found in this documentary from Canal+.
*11:09 mark is where they showed pictures of how Evita's health slowly went downhill due to severe weight loss (plus suffering from cervical cancer). I've heard rumors that she weighed only 79 or 80 pounds when she died.

She looked like a completely different person at the end and I'd argue that Peron kinda prolonged her suffering for his own political ends. And she was likely insane enough to go along with it.

I should note Peron KNEW about his wife's cancer diagnosis and NEVER told her anything about it.

From what I've read, the first sign of health problems occurred in 1950 when she collapsed in public.

Another factor I think was she overworked herself to death by working late hours when close friends begged her to take a few days off.

I came to the far reaches of the internet just to find the same old topics that you talk with your average taxi driver, it's depressing.

Let's focus on the good things!, like.......mmm.......well....

Aren't empanadas great?!

Howdy folks. I just learned something odd: while I was reading a sketch of the events leading to the September 16, 1955 Coup d'etat, that Peron was secretly having sex escapades with Nelly Rivas for TWO YEARS from 1953 to 1955; I also heard allegations that Peron had underground tunnels for Nelly to walk toward the Quinta de Olivos (Residence of the Argentine President) for their escapades and I was like YIKES!

Nelly obviously wanted to be the second Evita when she met him face-to-face.

The fact that Peron was doing THIS was downright disturbing. Why didn't her parents do anything about this considering she was underage at the time?

This is Argentina where the age of consent was a concept most people thought was bullshit.

A whole shitload of Argentine political and military figured had 12, 13 and 14 and 16 year old mistresses and most of their parents thought it was a great way to climb the ladder.

While Peron was doing his secret escapades with Nelly (who was underage), Evita was being embalmed by the creepy Dr. Pedro Ara inside CGT HQ.

This does eerily remind me of the 2005 movie "La Fiesta del Chivo" with then-Dominican Republic dictator Rafael Trujillo violently violating 14-year-old Urania Cabral inside his ranch (I've got the DVD).
