2021 Q2 Steam Video Game Releases

Definitely an interesting next three months, though I honestly don't care much for many of these games.

SMT III Nocturne and Biomutant are coming out the day after the other.

Back 4 Blood and D&D Dark Alliance are both coop games coming out the same day, so the competition will be fierce; I wouldn't be surprised if one or the other delays its release in order to not have to deal with the competition.

Personally, I don't think any of these releases are super interesting. I wouldn't consider any of them must buys. I think Q3 and especially Q4 of this year will be very dense as a lot of projects that got postponed due to COVID finally hit market.

April:
Outriders
Trails of Cold Steel IV
Atelier DX Trilogy
Humankind (Delayed)
Nier Replicant
Days Gone*

May:
Resident Evil Village
Hood: Outlaws and Legends
Biomutant
Mass Effect Legendary Edition
Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne Remaster
Maneater (coming to Steam from Epic)

June:
Necromunda: Hired Gun
Elder Scrolls Blackwood
Guilty Gear Strive
Back 4 Blood
D&D: Dark Alliance
Scarlet Nexus
Legend of Mana HD Remaster

*This release date is speculation. I think Sony will try to push for Days Gone to release on Steam on the 2 year anniversary of it's original release, which would be April 26.

Trails of Cold Steel IV

Only thing on the list I'm looking forward to. I already know that the story is a trainwreck (then again every Trails arc botches the landing), but I'm looking forward to more chilling with the characters, more of the battle gameplay, and more of the music.

Lots of games on this list excited me until I learned more about them.

The idea of Humankind sounds really interested but I haven't liked a lot of the strategy games from the developer, and I'm worried about the fact that it seems like there's an 8 player limit (in Civ-likes, to me the rule is the more AI opponents the better). I also don't find the idea of pre-ordering a game that'll probably have $100+ of DLC very attractive, especially when I could buy Civ VI Platinum for less than Humankinds preorder.

I thought Outriders was going to have both third and first person and was pretty disappointed that it was only going to be in third person. It being always-online was another dealbreaker because I'm generally not at places with good internet.

Biomutant looked amazing until I heard there was no voice acting which was an immediate deal breaker for me. The plot description and the fact that it has only a narrator makes it sound like an environmentalism morality tale.

I might be interested enough to get Days Gone if it launches $40 or under. I've never actually played a zombie shooter, so I'm not burned out on them.

I'm going to start trying out Elder Scrolls Online once the semester ends, and if I get really into it I might get ES: Blackwood.

You forgot the most important one....Star Wars The Skywalker saga!

Jokes aside having always been a fan of the Lego games, and hearing you may be able to toggle voices on and off, I can't wait for it.

I would be surprised if they didn't postpone it into Q3.

Thy said Speing so I don't think it will be postponed THAT late

There's a couple of reasons I think that:

1) The dev usually has a 4 month major marketing campaign for each Lego game. Skywalker Saga's only started mid March, pointing to a July release.

2) Its very weird that they don't have a set release date yet.

3) They don't have any preorder on Steam.

The other major possibility is that they are trying to hit a May 4th release date, but its so hard that they aren't sure they can do it and don't want to announce it until they are almost ready.

They have released things with short build up before.

I would think May 4th seems best

Purchased Trails of Cold Steel IV yet?

I have, but I can't play it yet because my GPU has problems and needs to be replaced. I have an AMD RX 580. About 2 or 3 months ago, my computer's fan went out and my GPU began overheating and shutting down. I had tried fiddling with the case fan, finding replacements, taking off the side of the computer and having an tabletop fan blow into the computer, etc. I then managed to get a replacement fan, and moved everything to a new computer case. Somewhere along the way, I think that the GPU was physically damaged somehow. When I booted up the first three Cold Steel games again, or tried playing Valkyria Chronicles 4, my GPU would crash a couple minutes into playing the game. I checked all of my drivers and fiddling with different graphical options for those games, to no avail. No matter what the games crash my GPU. So I can't play any graphically intensive games until I can find a new GPU... which is impossible at the moment because here in Southern California, every decent GPU has been bought up by Bitcoin miners. So I will have to wait another month or two. Interestingly, I can play FFXIV with pretty much no problem. I've only had 3 GPU crashes with it over the past 2 months.

Anyway, even if my GPU was working, I don't think I would have gotten to CS4 immediately. FFXIV's 5.5 patch comes out in a couple days. I've already been spoiled and know what happens in CS4. I'd rather try to beat the spoilers for FFXIV and play 5.5's story content blind first.
