One of the scariest ideas I've come up with would be a force activated virus. Something that's completely harmless, so it can spread throughout a population, until a specific force command activates it.

Hell, engineer it so that it's seen as beneficial.

The perils of this are...HUGE.

today i was thinking how Minbari have hard time to replenish their numbers when Humans appeared. how it's repeatedly hinted in the lore. of course, they are explaining that through the soul, Valen and reincarnation stuff.

but isn't that actually because of their overcomplicated rituals? they literally can't eat a lunch without five rituals involved. so I assume they are also sexually repressed culture, unable to mate just for sake of mating like Humans who are multiplying like rabbits.

It's probably a bit of human DNA entering their species and the Verlons screwing them and heavily genetically modifying most species to hold them back.

And their cripplingly neurotic culture

The extent of what the Vorlons have done to the younger races is...uncertain. Though what we know of what they've done is more than enough. They are responsible for Human telepaths and for many species recognizing them. For Humanity...they're essentially angels. And we respond to them a certain way. Where as we respond to the Shadows a certain way...and that might actually be the Vorlons manipulation too. Who knows what else.

Even when it's pretty much established that Vorlons as a species are no better than Shadows, and Kosh was actual exception, they are still repeating the mantra 'Vorlon good, Shadow bad'. I mean, what Shadows did to Humanity in particular? They responded to Vorlon actions, which included time travel and tearing reality apart (thirdspace), which is actually more damaging to galaxy than some cloak and dagger schemes in the shadows.

Vorlons basically act like they have right to be masters of all creation and they can't do nothing wrong, while Shadows seems to act more like a teachers, a guides, even if in ruthless and stern way. So, really, which ideology is worse?

That sounds like you are a Shadow sympathizer. Under the authority granted to me by the Vorlons I hereby condemn you to oblivion for sympathizing with enemies of the Vorlons.

You are not a Vorlon or under Vorlon rule? Well, we messed with your species' genetic code a few centuries back. That gives us the right to influence/manipulate/judge/rule your species so that you become what we want you to be. We have decided to train your species like a pet to prove a point to our rivals. You are not allowed to disagree with us because we say so. You don't like it? You must be a Shadow sympathizer. See above what we do to those...

The shadows were equally horrible because they too benefitted from the genetic engineering that locked humanity on a limited path and ultimately had no issue with what the Vorlons did because the ritual of the argument mattered more than its resolution and the younger races that they were both arguing on behalf of.

Yeah, I had to promptly annihilate one of them with all the battlefleets quickly and then to move to other side of the Terran Empire :)
That reminds me, now there is new ST: Mirror War comic series about ripped and ruthless Picard. For those who like stories of natural Human supremacy over yucky aliens.

But anyway, I would love this story to progress too. Only good Minbari is a dead Minbari.
