Introduction

Arlos

Sad Monarchist
It is the year 1886, the Great game is played by the Leading nations of the world and the scramble for Africa is in full swing, it is a time of ambition and glory both. It is this year in a country of the old continent of Europe, that a seemingly normal boy is born to a small, unnoticeable family. There are millions like him and in this day and age, he would most likely live his life unnoticed by all, to be forgotten by history.
But is that really the case? Is he truly one amongst the the faceless mass? Who knows, mayhap fate has some others plan for him.

But Where is this boy from?
[]The United Kingdom
[]The Third French Republic
[]The Empire of Germany
[]The Kingdom of Italy
[]The Kingdom of Spain
[]The Empire of Austria-Hungary

Note from QM: Alright, Here we go again, Hopefully this time I manage to stick to my quest grrrrr.
A few things to note;
First of all, this may look like OTL, and taste like it but it's not and is actually another setting, I'll be dropping clues on which one, so up to you to find out! (though I will be modifying things a bit)
Second things, you guys actually have a superpower, sort of, you basically have the CK2-ish systems, even though you character won't notice it, others people will notice the sheer focus you have on the stuff you are working on, that also means advisor(if you have any) will not give you extra actions(as they don't have your "superpower") but instead add bonus to your rolls.
Third things, you guys will not be ruling a country, if only because your QM here doesn't trust himself with the mechanics involved just yet.(Sorry ;))
Turn will be 6 years until you are 18, then 2 years.

Note 2: Just to inform all my players that I have not, in fact, studied Austria-hungary and the time period in a professional fashion, so there may be mistake and I may take liberties with some of the stuff I am unsure about.

Alright, since 3 people rolled I’ll just take 2 from each and roll the last one.
I am still missing a 1d100 by the way.

so we are a great general with a slightly less good personal combat score. solid learning and piety means we can deal with the clergy and scientists we have well enough. stewardship and intrigue are nothing to write home about but if we can get competent help we don't hold them back. diplo is god awful and if we have a re roll I propose we do that. rolled an additional d100 if that was needed.

62...that would make you polish! ....Hmm.
15 learning is pretty decent, you could research stuff yourself, just don’t expect to able to do big project, like having a nuclear reactor in the 20s, I am trying to avoid this quest becoming super tech quest number 90999.
You will still have the chance to upgrade your base stats during your childhood.
I’ll update tomorrow, so I’ll wait the night to see if anyone else has others idea regarding the reroll, otherwise I’ll roll it before the update.

so depending on how our reroll goes I can see either going all in on martial to try and wreck the Russians come WW1 or we can try and lean heavy on learning. we are going to be growing up in the industrial revolution and we could use learning to really kick things up a notch. Austria-Hungry was doing very well for itself economically pre WW1. a mixed path could be to try and modernize the military.

You guys may do as you wish, I don’t have a specific path prepared for you, I am trying to leave you as much player agency as I can in regard to what your character will become.
I’ve been doing some research on Austria-Hungary, so I can try and answer some questions if anyone is interested.
Also, just a reminder that you are not in our OTL. :)

understandable. random events and background rolls mean that things are likely to differ. that said we can likely infer that the industrial revolution is going on to some degree and global tensions are on the rise. we got a general sense of how things are moving but don't think we know exactly when the powder keg will blow.

Not exactly what I meant, of course, you are completely right in regard to the industrial revolution, but when I said that this is not our OTL, I meant that it is not our universe, and is an actually known fictional universe.
I will be dropping hint about which one it is within my updates.
There is still a long time to go before shit really hit the fan anyways.
