Adobe Flash - End of Life questions

Buba

A total creep
I don't know where to place this question but as it is related to software I'm putting it in tech support.
If there is a better place for it, let the Powers That Be move it to its appropriate place and not smite me for sinful thread misplacement.
Hopefully the young tech savvy people will be able to help this Fuddy Duddy :)
My question - I'm getting messages that Adobe Flash is to be discontinued and that I should uninstall it.
What does this mean for me, a XP and Firefox user? What will stop working?

They will stop making new versions of it. No more upgrades, bugfixes, patches, etc. What you've got is what you've got.

And over time that will work with less and less. New versions of browsers, new designs of webpages...

Windows XP will still work, but over time if you try to install it on a newer machine you'll find it hard to get the right drivers. And you'll find that while today lots of software will run on XP, newer stuff will not - they will assume that "nobody" still uses it.

Note that Adobe is still making Flash, they've just renamed it Animate. Okay, it's not exactly the same software but it works suspiciously similar to the extent that it's basically Windows XP to Flash's Windows 95, and I think Adobe's hoping it will fill the same niche.

considering how much of the web consist of flash games and animations I don't see why some version of it would not still exist? or do people seriously do nothing but rant on twitter?
