What? I have absolutely no idea how you'd get a timeline for that.

What if Japan didn't bombs pearl harbor but Americans are afraid from so they took over all the other Americas. Canada didn't want to be part of Nazi Europe's territories so they Canexit from the UK. What if Japan joined the British instead of the Nazis?

Gott Erhalte Franz den Kaiser!

A map I made depicting an Austrian led German Empire. This is based on my old Victoria II game. In ttl Franz-Joseph is a much more pragmatic and militarily inclined Emperor. During the 1848 Uprisings in Hungary, the Young Emperor cracked down hard on the Hungarians with the Imperial Army. After crushing the Hungarian rebels in the Battle of Buda, the Kaiser's armies marched triumphantly throughout the Hungarian capital. He made swift work arresting all those participating in the Rebellion and officially dissolved the Hungarian Royal Diet. Then Emperor Franz embarked upon a purge of the Magyar nobility who rose against him. To get the Hungarian populace on his side he enacted many popular reforms targeting the peasantry implementing long desired land-reforms earning the population his side. Those loyal to the Emperor were rewarded with lands confiscated from the traitor Hungarian magnates. Furthermore, to undermine ideas of ethnic nationalism within Hungarian borders, he broke Hungary into a more federal structure granting autonomy for the Slavs and Transylvanians within its borders. This allowed him to cripple the ideas of liberalism that had once threatened to undermine Habsburg rule. Once order was restored Emperor Franz-Joseph reconvened the Royal Diet staffed with Imperial Loyalist which recognized his authority.

With the situation resolved in Hungary Emperor Franz now turned his focus towards Italy and Germany. Emperor Franz then began promoting extensive military and economic reforms to issue the chronic problem of fiscal insolvency that plagued the Austrian Empire for many years. The long years of peace led to a general boom in economic growth which helped to fund the reform of Imperial Army.

With the outbreak of the Crimean War, Austria stayed neutral seeking to improve relations with Russia focusing on avoiding a long war. The conflict ultimately resulted in a stalemate between each power as France opted to withdraw from the war after the assassination of Emperor Napoleon III by an Italian Nationalist throwing the country into political chaos as the Empire was now without a head. The Second French Empire was now left in the hands of the child Emperor Napoleon IV and a power struggle broke out between Empress Eugenie and Plon-Plon (the Jeromist line of Bonaparte) over the regency. With the French now turned against Italian nationalism, the Kingdom of Sardinia began looking towards Prussia as an ally.

Tensions boiled over who would lead Germany culminating in the Austro-Prussian War of 1866. This resulted in the newly revitalized Austrian Army crushing the Prussian which allowed Kaiser Franz-Joseph to assert his authority over Germany. With the defeat, Prussia was stripped of its new territory in Holstein and Rhine with Austria carving it up for itself. Prussia was reduced to a secondary power and kicked out of the German confederation. At the conference of Aachen, Kaiser Franz-Joseph was acclaimed by the other Princes within the German Confederation as German Emperor holding his coronation symbolically within Aachen where he was enthroned on Charlemagne's throne in a ceremony characterizing himself as a successor to Charlemagne and Otto the Great. In regards to Galicia, It was ceded to Russia as a concession with Poland restored to its previous rights as part of the old Congress Kingdom of Poland. Alexander II accepted this to lessons tensions after a violent Polish uprising.

Within Italy, the upstart Kingdom of Sardinia was crushed by Franz-Joseph who in his wroth stripped it of Novarra and Genoa. From there he created a new Habsburg led Confederation of the Italy. Milan while under the rule of Emperor Franz-Joseph was made into an independent Duchy as part of the Coalition. Hungary was still independent but ruled in a personal union with the German Empire under Emperor Franz-Joseph. Austria now stands victorious with the House of Habsburg ever
resplendent.

Hello Basileus, it's nice to see a map thread here.

Nice map! As always, I like the texture you have on your map.

Just a thought and I could be wrong, but wouldn't granting autonomy to the Slavs and Transylvanians only increase the desire for more ethnic nationalism? Especially considering the trends during this time period.

The French Empire c.1812

Here's a map I made detailing the First French Empire at its greatest extent. I plan on releasing another set of alternate history maps using this based on various alternate history scenarios about a peace with France. What do you think of this map? I added other microstates as well. Though I deliberately excluded Spain as that was never really fully controlled by Napoleon.

What's the alternate history here?
Not really much, but it was a general map I made of the Kingdom of Prussia’s territory. I may have left out some pieces like Neuchâtel so technically it could qualify as alternate history I guess.

Though I’m actually working on some Carolingian Era alt history maps which I’ll post eventually.

The year is 1924, Adolf Hitler is in jail, the Second Greek Republic is being formed, and in ice-y Greenland, a Coup D'état is occurring! Tired of Danish rule, Inuit people's rose against the Danes, with help from American troops, The Inuit's, believing the American's were there to help, forced the Danish Government to leave the land in 39 hours, with nothing but feeling their pride and patriotism trampled. The Inuit's were soon celebrating, and just as soon as a free Inuit country was to be declared... it soon fell to a roadblock. The Americans gave them two options; first, leave, and move to Canada, or die.

You see, the man running the crew was Samuel McRoberts, an American businessman turned U.S General. He controlled the US Reserve forces, and after gathering men, set to plot. The Greenland Plot, as it would soon be known, encompassed three men. McRoberts, Robert Peary and Billy Mitchell. Another individual, who was not discovered to be apart of the plot, was Senator John Knight Shields, a Senator from the State of Tennessee.

After the offer was made, the Inuits, after staring down the barrels of M1903 Springfield's and seeing the bullets themselves, many choose to leave. A few stubborn folk made to rise, but, just as the Americans said they would, 209 men died in the ensuing massacre, and with it, Inuit Greenland faded, the battered men and women and children left on what barges remained, many fleeing to Canada.

Within the following weeks the men who took part in the plot were immediately called in for a Court Marshal, but soon after they were pardoned, with McRoberts and Mitchell being merely given an Honorable Discharge. Many European countries called out the Incident, as Barbaric, but just like so many other massacres of native populations, was soon forgotten.

Soon after, the Territory of Greenland was created, Americans moved in and life continued onward. by 1941 The Population had skyrocketed. from the 19,000 population at the time of the Greenland Plot, the population had reached 51,697 moving into Greenland's history during The Second World War.

In 1942, Greenland suffered what is known in history as Operation: Nordlichter, otherwise known as the Nazi Invasion of Greenland. The Operation began at 9:00 AM, when the German Battleship Tirpitz, alongside several other ships bombarded the city of Frihedshjem, killing many civilians, including Karl Nørgaard, the cities founder and the Mayor at his last moments. German troops soon came ashore, and half of Island was under the Swastika. Within a month, US Forces under Omar Bradley, had been pinned. But not for long.

The German troops, unused to the dangerous weather of Greenland, soon suffered from the bitter cold, and with armed civilians rising, Omar Bradley did the unthinkable. in a three-day-operation, Omar Bradley led what became the Long Night, where the US Army forced Germany back to the borders of the city of Frihedshjem, where it became one of World War Two's defining moments. The Battle of the Dawn.

The two day battle was vigorous, both sides gaining ground, merely to loose it. Germany had an Advantage, as the Tirpitz would on the occasion, fire death and destruction at the American Lines. Omar Bradley himself would suffer from the bombardment, having to amputate his left pinky after shrapnel ruined his left hand, an injury he would always remember. When the Battle became apparent that it was favoring the Germans, American lines began to break, but while all else failed, one group turned the tides for the American lines.

Lieutenant Kain Paul-Lynch, followed by fellow soldiers Frederick Hansen and Ezekia Smith had accidentally been captured by Germans, who had decided to capture them for some odd reason. perhaps gloating rights, or merely information, it was unknown why the Germans captured three African-American soldiers, as many times they were merely outright executed for their race. However, after being dragged to the belly of the ship, Frederick Hansen had killed the two German guards, and incapacitated a third, before seizing their weapons.

The three fought down the Tirpitz, where they had been taken, before finally, the three came to the helm of the ship. They had taken over the helm, killing all in the room, before they barred the doors, and drove the ship straight into the port. The crash caused the ship to slam to it's left side, throwing many their death, some even being crushed. with naught but a few cracked ribs, the triumvirate, which had brought down a titan, escaped from the ship, but not before they had been trapped on Shields Street. Paul-Lynch, the leader of the motley crew, stayed behind, allowing the two to escape through the back of a shop that had not been flattened by artillery.

Back at the American lines, Omar Bradley ordered a full on frontal assault, as many soldiers felt emboldened by the fall of the Tirpitz, which had claimed many lives. Within thirteen hours the city was back in American Hands, and the body of Paul-Lynch was discovered. His Commander, a man named Edward Almond insulted him, unluckily for him, Omar Bradley had heard, and short there after, was stationed in the Reserves. in 1972, he was interviewed by the local news paper of his home town, and when asked about Paul-Lynch he had thus to say of him; "He was a lazy no-good nigger, who was probably sleeping when killed.".

After the Invasion of Greenland had ended, the 92nd would later participate in the Invasion of Normandy, where Ezekia Smith would die. out of the Three Heroes of Frihedshjem, only Frederick Hansen would survive the war, with Hansen moving to Greenland in 1948, dying in 1998, at the age of 75.

After the war, Greenland would see a quick Reconstruction, and a revival of its population, with the 50's being exceptionally kind to Greenland. Later, in 1986, Greenland would finally become a state, with it's capital, Frihedshjem.

In the Modern day, Greenland is a state with a population of 1,789,491 and being a relatively Republican state. Two state sports teams, the Greenland Bears, and NFL team and the Frihedshjem Fighters, a NBA team. There are several Soccer teams in the state.

There are currently two Independent Movements in Greenland, The Inuit Independence League, a group attempting a Peaceful Independence, which has 3,408 follows, and the Greenlandic Inuit Freedom Force, a terrorist Cell in Greenland, Responsible for the Assassination of President Wilhelm Frye Lowry, the 45th President, as he was visiting his childhood home.

A map I made of the "Ideal Europe".

ideal_europe_flag_map-1.png

Maps used are state flags (civil ensigns) whenever possible, as opposed to flags of the monarchs (personal ensign / royal standard).

Point of departure is anywhere between 9th and 15th centuries, depending on the area. For example, Britain has no possessions in Ireland since Northern Ireland was colonized by the English in 16th and 17th century, though some nobility had their lands there from before. But during Middle Ages, it was part of Irish kingdom of Ulaid / Ulidia.

A surviving Byzantium changes so much.

Its likely that the HRE probably continues as a thing, as its dissolution was largely a consequence of Napoleon's rise. When Kaiser Franz announced the dissolution of the HRE, the people with in the HRE/Austria started rioting at the news. Despite the sorry state of the HRE in otl 19th Century, it was a pretty valid thing.

If anything, Austria and Bohemia would very much be included.

Italy probably wouldn't be unified in the event of a strong Byzantium. They'd be looking to retake Southern Italy which had a large portion of Greek speakers.

The modern nation of Macedonia wouldn't be a thing if the ERE survived either.

While I like the concept of this map, a lot is pretty anachronistic.

Do you have the base map? and if you do, is there a link to it that I can follow? it looks really detailed and would be a nice piece to sit in my docs for months only to get used twice.
Yeah it's the basemap for the Paradox Game: Imperator Rome.

I'm honestly glad I saved, since you can't really find it online anymore.
Here's the 4k version. I have a bigger and more detailed 8k version of this map, but its too large to upload on imgur. I'll threadmark it so its more widely accessible.

Here's the blank basemap I use for my alt history map. Feel free to use it. I got it from Imperator Rome.
