They wouldn't monitor everything. The computer systems would. They'd program some things in the computer systems that send out flags over certain behaviors. Or they can just use what they have on you inconvenience people who they feel the need to harass. Step out of line, bam, they've got a database on you ready to go.

It would be 90% automated.

Yes it's very much doable. The amount of manpower needed for this is smaller than you think.

You think this isn't feasible, yet we are only a few years out from discovering the absolutely massive phone monitoring this country was taking part in. This would be easier than that.

there comes a time where you have to either tell control freaks to fuck off or be prepared to be murdered along with your entire family as they purge every one in a paranoid death spiral.

Given how worried you are about some other subjects, I'm honestly bewildered by your inability to imagine ways in which the Democrat Party will weaponize this against their political enemies.

I mean, it's not like Trump's tax returns were leaked, which meant someone committed a Federal felony, and nobody was ever punished for it.
Even the Joker didn't screw with the IRS, and it was tax shit that brought down Capone.

There is no reason to fear this development as long as you are honest on your taxes.

Let's put it another way. Let's say the average person enters and leaves their house three times each per day. Now, every day you leave your house more than three times is recorded. If you're doing nothing wrong, there is nothing to fear. No? How about checking where you go if you drive more than 300 miles in a month?

It's not "if you're doing nothing wrong", it's "what right do you have to invade my privacy for something that happens all the time?" Moreover, with Civil Asset Forfeiture being a thing, they can take any >$600 deposit you make from then on and say it's now evidence of illegal activity, and you have to prove that it was not.

I do not think this IRS rules change actually changes anything.

As long as you are honest on your taxes, this shouldn't mean anything other than more overtime for IRS employees.
"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

None of which is violated by this new rule, any more than the already in-place bank-tracking systems already did, if someone sees those as 4A violations.

The only thing this rule changes is that now is that the banks will openly allowing the IRS to track stuff they already did passively anyway.

This is a tempest in a tea pot.

Cocaine Mitch is at it again.

…that’s actually not what this is about. What he’s doing is forcing the Democrats to own up on spending and raising the debt limit on their own. And quite frankly I support his play on this.

See, Pelosi thought she could be clever by detaching the debt limit increase from the reconciliation process, thereby trying to spread the blame for massive increases in government spending and the welfare state onto Republicans. The problem for her is that 1) the massive increases aren’t actually that popular and 2) McConnell is in no mood to bail out Biden and Pelosi and help pass their agenda -which is something posters on this board allegedly want. So now Pelosi has to either acquiesce to Republican demands and cut down spending, or else break down and leave the Democrats to own raising the debt again and pissing away who knows how much money, thereby hurting their chances in 2022. Or she can hope a friendly press (including Business Insider) misrepresents what’s going on in hopes of helping the Democrats improve their position.

For all the complaints I’ve heard about McConnell, “being an effective opposition leader” is a new one, especially in light of all the complaints on here I’ve seen of him not being effective enough.

Given that I support a balanced budget amendment, I generally support not allowing the debt limit to be further raised, though I'm leery of how limited my understanding of the consequences of a federal default are.

Ah, my mistake. Usually when I see people calling him that it's because they're disparaging him for one reason or another.
Sometimes I think he's failing those who elected him but this time he's doing what he does as befits his nickname to the Democrats.
