Did a brief read of the timing, and it looks like Leo will have his work cut out for him. The Crusaders are coming for Constantinople, and they managed to breach the walls...in 1203 IIRC.
I think the biggest changes will come from him being 'delivered from history by God's will'. Especially if he plays up the divine aspect. Might very well bring him a great deal of support. I'm just not, in any way, a real student of this period to guess how that will play out. I don't know the players at this time well enough.
