Conservatism and the Environment

I suppose you might be able to create "mini parks" either through buying cheap and underpopulated land(or in urban areas) and thus preserve say lions or gorillas and so on-species whose habitats are being destroyed.

Lots of rich environmentalist types better put their money where their mouth is, actual solutions like these are things they could probably afford

It will still look like exploitation though

So, this is the new name of the game with the blackpilled on this site.

I see this thread on the front page, yet get no notification related to it. I think maybe some cool new update has been posted about something or an article had come out.

Low and behold it turns out it's Invictus trying to move this conversation to his thread. And it's happening not long after Duke tried to shift this topic to Essays and Commentaries after you advised him to. Despite you knowing this thread already existed, and that I had posted about in a thread where we had been in conflict.

Don't think I don't see the little power play on this topic you have attempted and had Duke attempt, after I pointed this threads existence out to Lordsfire.

There is not other reason to resurrect this thread just to advertise your own.

Congrats, you are coming off Ignore, and going onto a different list; 'Political and Site Cancer in need of Steady Dose of Chemo'; I'm bringing the isotope source.

Weren't you the one who brought up this thread when talking about how conservatives don't care about the environment?

I'm trying to stay out of all the flame wars, but there is a lingering habit for SB and SV users to fear necro-ing threads without content. Realizing that another thread exists when your thread has pages of content and its too late to just copy over what you said, could conceivably be a reason to use the alert system to tell these people that there is a more current thread on the issue.

Though, to be fair, that thread's pretty dead too.

What?

Talk about bad faith dude.

My thread had some articles I recommended people interested in the subject check out.

Insinuating I was trying to redirect traffic to my thread is offensive and flat out dishonest.

My thread has links that might be of interest to this thread. Like wow, I was trying to generate discussion here.

Can you be anymore ungrateful?

I posted a thread earlier on some of these issues.

It has some links to various news articles, with a focus on Asia.

Will the two of you please chill? First it's Invictus going off on how America deserved a fucking cultural revolution because people weren't agreeing with him. Now it's Bacle claiming conspiracy where the worst Invictus did was be too lazy to write a post with the links from his thread.

No, I will not 'chill'. I am done with Invictus's bullshit, I don't care what infractions it costs me to stand up to him and the blackpills who want people like me gone from this board.

Invictus had told Duke Nukem to make a thread about this subject, and has been telling others to make threads on it after I mention it as a platform. And doing it right after I mentioned my own stuff related to environmental issues in other threads.

Notice he said someone should make one, right after I pointed out I already had to Lordsfire (who has actually posted in this thread and yet seemed to have forgotten it existed when he critisized me for not having a separate thread).

Duke made another thread, despite knowing this one existed. Just like Lordsfire knew this thread existed when he asked me what I'd done for this topic.

All while this thread already existed; notice he only bumped it to put in a link to his own thread. Because actually having a meaningful conversation in this thread, instead of directing people to other thread via this one, would mean a thread of mine (made just for this subject soon after this forum began) instead of his (made earlier this month) got traffic.

He wants me to be grateful that he bumped it to link to his own thread that has a total of 5 posts, while this one has 14 pages.

He wants to shift things to where his blackpill voice dominates, instead of a centrist one like mine,

Harlock

I should have expected that really
No need to attack each other gentlemen, even if you have good motives there is always room for being civil. It is alright to criticise or confront a person's actions or choices, that is the basis of any debate, but try not to make it personal and attack the person himself.

The goal here should always be to set the example, not become the example.

The Boot is here. The Boot is not happy.

@Bacle, @Lord Invictus the two of you need to settle down. Everything isn't a personal attack on you. Both of you have plenty of points to raise that are perfectly fine, just stop thinking that the other is trying to insult you when they raise points you dislike.

To everybody, not just in this thread but in general. Yes, blackpilling, dooming, etc are annoying. The way to deal with that isn't to fling insults and belittle other posters, it is to point out what is going right and put things in perspective.

I will also note that this thread was inactive for a long period of time, so it is very reasonable to assume that people would have forgotten about it even if they'd posted in it in the past. Don't assume that everybody remembers everything, some of us are old and have slept since then.

OK, with mod stuff out of the way and to be on topic for the thread.

Extinction Rebellion spokesperson quits after researching nuclear power

Showing that even people who drank the Kool-aid can come around to see reason if exposed to facts in a calm and logical manner.

Simply shouting at people isn't going to move the needle. I've had productive discussions with people here about conservatism and environmentalism, and those areas where they intersect. Has it changed minds? Maybe. Has it spawned good conversation? Yes.

Read if you want to be depressed.

Ultimately my prognosis is right. Human happiness and prosperity is inversely proportional to the health of the environment.

Either man destroys nature or nature recovers by man’s extinction.

It really is that simple.

Or we take a third option.

Start mining space more while moving people off Earth, then turn the globe into a 'national park' for all of humanity.

Or go full bore and environmentally engineer our whole damn planet.

Or create orbital habaitats specifically made to support endangered species of flora and fauna.

But nah, that's not 'doom' enough for you blackpilled.

Honestly I don't think it is. Without natural beauty, and many of the other things nature provides, life as in human life will be all the poorer for it. Who wants to live in dingy smoke-choked cities, or industrial wastelands?

The Chinese apparently.

Like they are in South America now hunting for jaguars. For fucking bone jewelry. The rarer the species gets the more expensive hence the better the status symbol.

It’s a very fucked up worldview. (Not that it doesn’t exist in the west but we have at least some semblance of a conscience).

They, and southeast Asians do not give a fuck at all. I see no way of dealing with this problem without what amounts to a neo imperial occupation.

But the Chinese aren't happy, nor are they prosperous; they're just lying to themselves.

Like these animals aren’t being driven into extinction to feed some poor African family(though African families do engage in poaching) it’s so Chinese middle class urbanites can show off their wealth and status to their peers.

That’s not something you can change. The human need for affirmation and respect is ingrained in us. And it manifests in say expensive jewelry or taking friends out to expensive meals. In Asia we see this via the illegal wildlife trade.

I want someone to tell me how this problem can be dealt with short of one. War, or two evacuating all the animals to preserves in the west.

There is no environmental consciousness in China and Southeast Asia. There’s more in India because Hinduism places somewhat higher value on nature and wildlife. But it’s the Chinese who are driving this.

(again not to ignore the west has its faults-the difference is westerners care).

So, @Bacle I've taken the time to read through this thread again, due to desire to have some discussion about what you think conservatives should be doing in regards to the environment.

Now, I've seen discussion of some things that are good ideas (and some that very much are not), but I've not seen you make an policy or campaign proposals. Or even non-political ways to try to take a public stance.

Could you make some clear proposals?

Update: it seems Bill Gates has decided to branch out into the Energy industry. And he'd doing it with something that I predicted a year ago would be one of the logical steps forward.

Posted 31 August 2020 Forbes goes into Gates's newest project. The Molten salt reactor. This was an interesting read.
