Element of surprise and scouting forces already in position in system.
There may be some tactical surprise...but I don't think it's enough by itself especially with the deficiencies I've already established we'll be facing. Additionally, we've given them days/weeks to prepare a greeting for us. The BS has already shown that they are able to be tactically proficient and able to setup layered offenses & ambushes. Our data on the system you want us to jump into is months old at the least.

The big problem I see with 'jump in' method is that, b/c of our fleet's status/condition, the margin of error for them has functionally gone to almost zero. They have to be PERFECT to pull off the attack. I also have no doubt the BS has placed reserves in a position to block whatever escape route our fleet would use once they get in system. Like I said, that's a recipe for disaster.

The thing about adjusting the fleet is that our choice here is between aggressively pressing the assault with a fleet that is heavily depleted and in relative disarray against a foe that has bigger and more powerful ships than we do and is very likely able to absorb such a hasty attack by its superior innate durability, or pull back and regroup so that our attack fleet is well-rested, properly formed, and reloaded for battle.

"Keeping up the momentum" is a strategy rooted in the shock effect of rapid and relentless striking against human frailty and psychology, a weakness which Black Steel's heavily cyberized nature means they at minimum substantially mitigate, and more likely do not have at all.
