My idea of black comedy, still people will be desperate for jobs, the local government will want/need to appease them

I don't, for the most part.

But I also don't live within 100 ft of them, or have seen them as almost a second father in the past, and haven't seen them as examples of almost model GOP members.

You are right that my world view has been rocked, and it may be affecting me more than I want to admit.

One day, we'll have the chance to rebuild the left into something that resembles sanity; but that day is not today. Not with the inmates running the asylum; and I say this as a leftist myself. The left must be torn down to its foundations, if anything is to be salvaged; perhaps even new foundation laid.

It will take the remaining ACTUAL centrists and moderates speaking out en masse to do this

I think with time, those Leftists are gonna become more aware and brave enough to actually stand up to this insanity that permeates the rest

Yeah, TBH, I think any Democrats turning on the crazies will end up more-or-less indistinguishable from the "Republicans" or be considered "Right Wing" anyway
