Culture Welcome to Dismal Disney.

The only things Disney has going for it right now are Disney+ via X-Men 97 or as I like to call it (X-Men TAS Season 6) and the Bad Batch. Bad Batch is on its last season and X-Men I'm pretty sure is only as good as it is because the people in charge of it grew up with the X-Men and weren't under Disney's thumb before it was finished. With the head writer leaving under "Mysterious circumstances" I fully expect X-men TAS season 7 onward to have Disney's Mickey "We need to make this for a modern audience" mouse pawprints all over it.

Edit: I would absolutely love for this prediction to age like milk.

Kind of a sister post to my post about X-men. hearing the older Jubilee and people's comments about the voice change it made me curious and look up why the voice change occured and I REALLY wish I had not.
Alyson Court turned away reprising her role because she wanted more Asian Americans to be represented. She cameos as a Jubilee clone in one episode. Honestly, though I now wish she had just not returned altogether I didn't notice it before I'll be perfectly honest, but now that I DO know I can't unhear it and now I can't help but wonder how soon before political correctness makes the whole thing rot.

At the end of the day, the taint of political correctness is seeped into the core of modern theater.

It's fucking hilarious to me that voice actors who have been crying and screaming for more accurate representation really fucking hate it.

Like iirc ProZD has been posting about getting only Asian characters.

Apparently they never realized that it meant that they would get type cast hard.

Ah and VAs and regular actors 'of color' have been complaining about not being cast in certain roles, ie a villain. They're being given super safe, super bland, not at all racist roles and they fucking hate it.

They presumed it'd be a "one rule for thee, one rule for me" situation.
Yeah, no. It's backfired hard on them. :ROFLMAO:

Oh that is interesting. That actually makes a lot of sense. For a while, like a decade ago, there was this weird thing going on where being a publicly gay celebrity in media was a sign of virtue. And then you had an increase of gay and lesbian characters in shows and then there was gay media and outrage over how the overrepresented gay and lesbian characters ended up being killed in these fictional shows and movies and how that was bad I guess even though they were already overrepresented so things have to shift even more so they don't get killed more often, and don't get villainized... and now they're being typecast.

When the latest Evil Dead movie came out, there was some social media buzz, which was actually somewhat positive, that there was a "Trans" character who was depicted as a moron and it was seen as great representation. :p

Someone has recreated some lost Disney technology that is superior to green screens used today.

They can recreate the effects digitally now, I think. Either that, or they can use modern manufacturing techniques to cheaply and easily recreate these prisms.

none of the digital techniques work as well, and require far more difficult. As for cheaper techniques to replicate the prism, that is what they actually did in the video.
Yeah, I posted my comment half-way through before they got to the recreation bit. :) They can produce these en-masse now with what they know, and it's no joke when this can be used to replace green/blue screens for films/compositions.

And it gives superior results.
It's crazy how a technology developed decades ago can be refined to produce superior results to what's being used now.

I know this is happened a lot with other technologies because of differing reasons (e.g. cost, difficulty of manufacture, political motivations, industry giant suppression [especially in the case of Big Oil], and such), but seeing it right in front of our eyes...

Yeah, it's amazing. :D
