Quest Eleftheria I thanatos; A Greek monarchy CKII Quest

Character Creation

Arlos

Sad Monarchist
The year is 1833 and after a long, bloody struggle and with the intervention of the Great powers, Greece is free at least.
And as the Greek people rejoice in their newfound liberty after being oppressed for centuries by the Ottoman, the Great powers debate the future of the country, choosing a King for to lead and protect this new nation (and their interests).

You are that King.

In those difficult first steps into nationhood, you will have to navigate Greece trough the troubled Balkans, dealing with the increasingly restless Europeans population, tension between muslim, christian and jews as well as the meddling of the Great powers, moving their pawns around to advance their interests.

May God be with you.

First off, what kind of future do you envision for your country?

[] An Absolute Monarchy! You shall rule as an enlightened despot!

Advantages: More Freedom of choice; Stats of the rulers highly affect the state of the country and the option of the players meaning a high stats King will be highly beneficial to the country.

Disadvantages: Somewhat higher risk of revolts if you mess up, the Stats of the rulers highly affect the state of the country and the option of the players, meaning a low stats King may quickly send the country in a death spiral, more likely to have hidden trouble creeping up on you.

[] A Semi-Consitutional Monarchy! you shall rule hand in hand with the most nobles of the lands!

Advantages: High support amongst the upper class, take away less actions than a constitutional monarchy, mitigate the negative effects of the rulers stats while not hindering the positive ones.

Disadvantages: Risk of Tyranny by the Lords, may or may not schemes to puppet you, still suck away some of your actions, Higher risk of revolts.

[] A constitutional Monarchy! The people and King shall rule as one!

Advantages: People less likely to revolt you mess up, better grasp of the problems facing the people, the parliament can make up for your low stats to some extent.

Disadvantages: Parliament will suck some of your actions every turn, it may obstruct you on some policy, and it may, or may not try to slowly erode your powers.

But where does the King come from?

[] You are related to the Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, the British Royal Family, leading the most powerful nation in the world and ruling the waves.

Advantages: Good relationship with the United Kingdom at the start of the Game, may help you when in trouble.

Disadvantages: May interfere with your foreign and domestic policies, malus with others Great powers in regard to diplomacy.

[] You are related to the Bourbon-Capet, Royal House of France since it’s very founding, now newly reinstated as the Kings of France.

Advantages: Good relationship with the French Kingdom at the start of the Game, may help you when in trouble.

Disadvantages: May interfere with your foreign and domestic policies, malus with others Great powers in regard to diplomacy.

[] You are related to the habsburg lothringen, Ruling House of the Austria-Hungarian Empire, and the most inbreed house in Europe.

Advantages: Your relative have a huge empire, and are willing to throw their weights around for family, they will also help you if you ask, maybe.

Disadvantages: will definitely interfere with your foreign and domestic policiesYou are already inbreed, and it is going to get worse, very interested in the Balkans, diplomatic malus with others Balkans people .

[] You are not related to anyone, you are from an Ancient Greek noble family who not only managed to survive for centuries under Ottoman, but managed to preserve their history, you rose to the occasion and lead you people in the war for independence, you are a local hero.

Advantages: Greater Stability, stats bonus, very high legitimacy and popular support.

Disadvantages: You are a nobody outside of Greece, diplomatic Malus with every Great powers. Great powers are still going to interfere in everything.

[x] A constitutional Monarchy (with enough though and consideration we should be able to overcome any difficulties. We are eventually going to be a constitutional monarchy depending on how the game runs and we can avoid difficulty by having a good relation with the parliament. And this way we can give freedom to our people, and death to our enemies)
[x] greek noble family

The absolute monarchy headed by a Hapsburg descendent would be my choice but...That Hapsburg chin and inbreeding. Don't want.

I'm going for absolute. The revival of Greece needs a new Alexander to lead us to greatness, to free and create a greater Greece and unite Ionia with western Greece and to free and unite the islands of Cyprus, Rhodes and Crete, to recapture the jewel of the passage to the Black Sea and the med, Constantinople. To that end we require an enlightened despot who can lead the nation directly down the path to greatness and to recapture Greece as the heart and birthplace of western civilization.

I’ll note that it is possible to change from one to the others later on. (though changing from constitutional monarchy to an absolute monarchy require quite a lof of popularity)

I am thinking that with good stats already, even if martial is a bit low, we should be able to do well without boosting anything at the expense of the other. So we should just go for the pure boost, and if martial is low rather than decent that is what we have con monarchy for.

Going to think on the name.

I had forgotten to add the genius traits.
12 as a base stats is above average, though it is nothing extraordinary.
20 as base stats, Which is the highest you can get without traits mean you are already an expert.

I am using a modified ember in the dusk stats system to differentiate skill levels.
