Breaking News FBI raids Trump's Mar-a-Largo Resort home

Oh, lovely. They've sent me a mo-ron.
Excuse me?

I'd like to direct your attention to the MOST Institutional of the Institutional Powers in the US Federal government, known as the US Supreme Court which is basically under the sway of the single most conservative justice in American History: Clarence Thomas.

Also, people seem to forget that there's a lot of government Institutional Power outside of the Federal Government. Even now, with how much they've tried to pull power there, in everyday life and in everyday matters, US State governments have more power and influence over people's daily lives than the Feds do.

Have you recently looked at a map of US State by party control of their legislature?

30 of the 50 states are Republican controlled. 3 have divided control, and 17 are pure democrat.

Governors are a little less skewed Republican, with Republicans controlling ONLY 28 of the Governor's mansions to the Dem's 22:

That's a LOT of Institutional Power there that the Right is working to leverage. There's a reason there's so much pushback against the Dems, much of their power is illusionary and due to control of the media that unfairly portrays them as being the "default" position of the country when in actuality the media is so skewed to the left of the average American they are barely in the nation's Overton Window despite their best efforts.
They revoked Roe v Wade and strengthened pro gun rights. If that's not progress I don't know what is.

Here is the thing and why I disagree with immortal about weakening the federal government. While getting rid of Roe is a good counter attack, it is still only defensive action. Roe was a liberal attack on conservative areas. “You MUST allow abortion even if your people don’t want it and vote against it!” Repealing Roe does not ban abortion the liberal areas will still have their way in their areas. All it does is allow OUR areas to have their own say locally. But if we want to ban abortion in California New York Massachusetts etc. you need federal power and police to move in and force the states to obey.

Stop blowing smoke up people's ass's about how much the GOP and Right are actually accomplishing that has a meaningful effect on the national scale by conflating state house control with the ability to effect and implement national scale policy in the long run.

Because state legislatures can only attempt to resist bad policy out of DC, maybe getting it changed via SCOTUS occasionally, but rarely are able to make the institutions in DC less corrupt or abusive towards the nation.

Also, there are more people in the blue states, more economic activity, and more levers of power to be had.

Sure, people like DeSantis can create 'sanctuary' states for sanity, but that's not a winning move in the long run, and is just damage mitigation.

Short of a Constitutional Convention, all those nice red legislatures mean jack and shit for the national level problems and losses the GOP and Right have faced.

The only real 'wins' the Right has gotten, and been able to keep as 'wins', since 2016 are Roe being overturned and the 2A protected. Pretty much all the good Trump did has been nullified outside the SCOTUS picks and those cases, thanks to the Dems fuckery around and in concert with the Wu Flu/election.

The Right hasn't been winning anything meaningful on the national scale outside of those SCOTUS cases, as even Youngkin has shown he's barely more than a RINO, and the only politicians on the Right who don't seem like grifters or RINOs are Rand Paul, DeSantis, MTG, Boebert, Ken Buck, and maybe Kari Lake.

And this doesn't even touch all the institutions the Left marched through that are becoming more and more woke, or becoming weaponized against anyone who dissents, that the Right ignored because they wanted to grill and have a simple life.

The Right isn't winning shit, it's just huffing cope.

The day there's more of you to enforce that you can.

I mean.
How many states have managed to not follow the left of the ones that have even left governor?
A vast majority.
Local is where things get done the most. Federal is all show boat and nothing if substance will happen vast majority of the time

As a Canadian, I'm going to say straight up....Controlling states and the Supreme Court is IMMENSE power. The US is decentralized, and that allowed every state to enact different policies, and the federal government can and has been told to pound sand.

I just got my US permanent residency, and am making plans to leave Canada to the US. However, I'm not leaving for a government heavy shithole like New York or California, barely any different than Ontario or Quebec, but probably Georgia or Florida or Texas.

Don't get me wrong, federal institutions in the US are too powerful for their own good, but do not discount the power of the states.

Yup, especially if you know US history and just how tremendously powerful regional bosses can become and frequently do become.

A single Irish American county treasurer was largely responsible for the Harding administration after all :ROFLMAO:

Welcome to the Gringo by paperwork club brother!

TBh if you really wanna screw the Federal Government you do two things.

Make access to currency exchange/Banks comparable to access to medicine or utilities. Pass an amendment making it so.

And then the other thing is make it so that Senators and Representatives have to live and serve and hear petitions and townhalls in their districts/states for at least 8 months out of the year.

Disperse DC's carteling of power and that'll do it.
