Sad news to bring to the Sietch family. Former LA Governor Edwin Washington Edwards (D), who served a record 16 years as the Pelican State's chief executive from May 9th, 1972 to March 10th, 1980; March 12th, 1984 to March 14th, 1988 & again from January 13th, 1992 to January 8th, 1996, has passed away at 7:00 AM CST in his residence in Gonzales, LA surrounded by family & friends. The cause of death was respiratory problems.

With the passing of EWE, this leaves Bobby Jindal (R) as the only former LA Governor left.

BREAKING NEWS: Sources confirm the family of former LA Governor Edwin Edwards (D) will NOT allow cameras inside the Old State Capitol in Baton Rouge for the private funeral service set for 1:00 PM CST this afternoon.

Only the procession from the LA State Capitol will be live-streamed.
