New trailer for the next DLC for Total War Warhammer II has dropped... It is called The Throt and the Thots The Twisted and the Twilight DLC.

The Sisters of Twilight and Throt the Unclean Fat Rat will apparently be new Legendary Lords... and I must say, the Sisters of Twilight look awesome. I am a fan of their characters and the Wood Elves have badly needed an update, especially to their campaign mechanics. Hopefully they remove or heavily modify that 'Amber' mechanic finally. It wasn't crippling, but it did feel like the campaign was just more limited then that of the other factions.

Also new units for both sides... though I didn't recognize them all. Obviously there's a new mutant cyborg Rat Ogre single entity monster or hero unit. And some weird Zoat looking thing. Some tell me the giant mutant cyborg Rat Ogre is Ghoritch, the Chaos Warrior who somehow had his brain planted in a Rat Ogre... which sounds like an interesting career choice.

Also giant dog rats... or actually more likely... dog sized giant rats.

Wood Elves have some... uhhhh reptilian ting and what looks like a new Wardancer unit (or perhaps just a skin or Regiment of Renown?) as well as a new Wild Rider or Cavalry unit. And maybe even Ariel herself will show up?

Nevermind... there's a blog post that explains everything.

Two new Legendary Lords
> Throt the Unclean of Clan Moulder
> Arahan and Naestra, the Sisters of Twilight

The Skaven new units include:
> Brood Horrors
> Mutant Rat Ogres
> Packmasters
> Wolf Rats
> Ghoritch

The Wood Elf new units include:
> Zoats
> Great Stag Knights
> Bladesingers
> Spellweavers
> Queen Ariel

Also six new regiments of renown:
> Wraiths of the Frozen Heart
> Lost Sylvan Knights
> Enigmas of Ghyran: Elite Zoats with Lore of Life spells

> Pit Fighters of Hells Deep
> Morskittars Hellions
> The Thing Thing...

In addition, the Free LC will also release two new heroes:
> A Skaven Chieftain Hero
> Legendary Lord Drycha

Also Amber will no longer be required for units and buildings but apparently will be for technologies and other things. Also amber is earned via healing forests, a new campaign mechanic for the Wood Elves, not conquering and holding territory.

The DLC and Free LC will be released on December 3rd and is available for pre-order at the standard 10% discount.

And yes nothing for the poor Beastmen...

I'm pretty sure my Malta campaign stalled as the AI turn system stops with Russia whenever I try to load the saved game. Which was frustrating, because I was probably about to lose France again to the Dutch.

Followup from last post, I bought the mobile port of total war, as my first total war game, actually. It runs well, even with large unit sizes. Setting formations is a bit clunky, so using skirmishes and light infantry is proving harder than I think it's supposed to be based on the let's plays I've seen.

So far the campaign is going well, I'm playing brutii and have seized the various rebel towns along the opposite coast of Italy and have started the assault on Greece, just took their first city and got a unit of triarii as a reward. Because that's what I really need to fight phalanxs, anti calvary infantry.

So far I've got one small naval force keeping the Greece navy away, and a second boat playing taxi running up and down the coast ferrying unit around. This has mostly worked, except for that one time I accidentally shipped a unit of town watch up the coast instead of the hastati (in my defense, the icons are really tiny on a phone).

Speaking of town watch, is there any reason not to use them as a rear area garrison unit?

I'm just going to post this in this thread every Holiday Season because I love the video so much. Watching it is an unofficial Holiday tradition for me now I feel.

Total War Warhammer III has been announced.

Kislev...

And there was a blog post on the whole thing as well.

It'll be coming out with SIX new factions and NINE Legendary Lords. Each of the four Chaos Gods will have their own faction (Nurgle, Khorne, Tzeentch and Slaanesh) as well as Kislev and the (Dragon) Empire of CATHAY. That's right... they're bringing in the largest Empire in the Warhammer world. The literal Warhammer Fantasy China equivalent. The next 'Old World' map is going to be yuuuuuge.

Here's a community post with some interviews with the developers and other teasers and concept art.

PC Gamer had a thick article on Total Warhammer III. Some things mentioned are that it's main campaign map will be twice the size of the Eye of Vortex map of Total Warhammer II.

Also the combined campaign probably won't be released until after launch like with the Mortal Empires game. The developers said they're going to focus on performance so you won't have to read a sourcebook between turns as well. Also the Chaos Factions probably won't be doing much diplomacy. They seemed to hint that the Realms of Chaos were going to be featured as well on the campaign map which cpykd be interesting.

I hope it's got some minor rebalances as well. Maybe kick triarii down a tier so you can actually use them a bit before the reforms trigger.

MATN's got a 5 hour long gameplay video up. Haven't seen all of it yet, but one thing he's mentioned is that CA is working with various popular creators to refine the game, fix bugs, etc, those fans get some input. In Jon's specific case, he nagged the devs until they put in the new population system as a separate opition, so you can have the remastered campaign settings turned along with the old style population management.

Total War Three Kindgoms is currently getting review bombed on Steam over recent news that the latest patch 1.7.1 will be the last one for the game that came out roughly two years ago. This final patch doesn't include promised updates to the map and came around the same time of a Dev Update video released by Creative Assembly which stated they will be working on a new Total War game that takes place during the same era in China.

They are known for their fuck-off attitude towards the players, with minimal troubleshooting and hostility towards modders.
On the positive side, when they forced some modders to stop working on mods, they went on to make games of their own, resulting in excellent Ultimate General.

The Silence and the Fury DLC for Total War Warhammer II is being released today.

It's introducing a bunch of new mechanics as well as two legendary lords, a Lizardman one, Oxyotl and Taurox the Brass Bull of the Beastmen.
