But there's actually no Wal-marts by the Targets that were looted either in Minneapolis or St. Paul AFAIK. Ironically I think all of the Wal-marts are in the suburbs... though some are close to downtown by being in first tier (diet slum) suburbs and beyond, where it can be catered by poorer White people.

Ahhhhh Maybe that is why no Wal mart looting.

there are two big differences, the Michigan protestors did not burn and loot civilian property and the Michigan protestors had guns an body armor.

If they only burned and looted state owned buildings, I would be a lot more sympathetic.


Also, because of the combination of Covid work at home and cloud computing, some state agencies would be unaffected.

Michigan also wasnt a riot.

As for the riots, that's yet another police failure. First they hurt people, then they can't protect property.

Third Precinct building in Minneapolis may or may not be burning up tonight.

It looks like they managed to set fire to a huge pile of combustibles at the wall of the Precinct Station (the same one across the street from the Target looted and AutoZone burned down last night) and the blaze is burning bright.



Complete with fireworks.

Looks like the police abandoned the precinct (and the entire neighborhood) so the Protestors were able to break in and set fires inside of the structure.

Yeah, I will defend my stuff, there's a reason I go to pink pistols meetups. But that doesn't absolve the cops for not doing their job. They have two jobs: protect people, and protect property. They are accomplishing none of these right now.

It's basically a police station for a neighborhood. The Minneapolis Police Department is made up of five precincts so losing this one is actually a pretty big deal since this station served most of South Minneapolis.

Also unconfirmed... and since the fires are basically uncontrolled at the moment (firefighters can't get there and last night they were attacked by protestors).

Any idea of the procedure forhow it was "abandoned"? I wondered about this: Might the cops have been forced to leave behind some guns that the hooligans could seize? Or would they be locked safely away?



This is my guess too. Failing to draw a line will only draw in more people looking to join the chaos, there's too much rage for the protests to fizzle out.

Oh, totally. I have a lot of issues with this riot. It's harming innocent people, there is looting, etc. I could go on and on. But I do back the protest, even if I don't agree with the narrative being pushed. Having counter-narrative voices in a protest that are still trying to accomplish the same goal is useful.

Can't. The Mayor and City Council must've explicitly forbidden it. And God knows the blowback afterwards would destroy their livelihoods for years if they did and someone caught a round in the brain!
