Eh.

I wish they'd focused more on releasing information.

For example, Bethesda's Ghostwire Tokyo, coming out in October, got 0 information. I think Microsoft gutted its marketing budget because Sony bought PS5 exclusivity for it before the Bethesda Acquisition deal was announced.

However, Ghostwire Tokyo is probably in my top 3 games for the rest of the year, so I wish it had gotten more info.

Also excited for Eidos Montreal's Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy.
You may see it if Sony has a thing but that is most likely why you didn't see it.

I'm looking forward to a lot of games. Halo is one of them

Draco

Adida

Framing on that space jump was horrible, the one shot approach is only going to be a disservice to this game's direction.

Why would a Spartan need their neural interface to light up when they're on comms.

New AI is forced cutesy, oblivious ditz, and it doesn't land. Ugly design too.

What was Chief looking at while she was talking, by the way.

In our quest to be more like Destiny, we've stolen Ikora Rey and put her in charge of the Spartans because Palmer was insufferable. Can't say it's much of an upgrade.

Multiplayer continues to add as many obnoxious announcements for medals as they can, because nobody on the dev team understands that the less medals that are yelled out, the more special they are when the announcer says it.

I hate that multiplayer AI already, and I know you won't be able to turn it off.

At least they made the pistol not the size of a Spartan's forearm anymore.

As for the story stuff...

> Nobody knows how Cortana was deleted
> The Weapon's still around despite having been supposed to self-delete after Cortana
> "Cortana's fate is one of the Infinite campaign's big mysteries."
Aka "we completely fucked the pooch with Halo 5 and didn't know where to go from there, so we threw the story out."

Keep in mind, these are the same people who wrote the Didact out of Halo 5 by accident and then had to write a comic to explain why he wasn't there like they so blatantly set him up to be.

Also what the hell is with the noun names? Did we not have the budget to go to Behind the Name and pick some out of a hat? "Weapon" isn't a fucking name.

If they wanted to call her "Weapon" without sounding retarded, they could have called her Joyeuse.

I have a theory based on the campaign trailer, and I could be totally wrong and likely am, but here goes. If this new AI didn't delete Cortana and this new AI didn't self delete...I'm think Cortana is responsible for both. She saw a way to live again and get back to her roots and so coopted the new AI. Sacrificed herself but downloaded her personality and files into this new AI in a chance to live again. Because she hated what she became and wanted another chance to be what she was always meant to be. A Hero alongside the Chief.

Just a theory.

I noticed that too. IIRC the Pilot's VA said he'd be called that initially, but his name would be revealed later in the game, so maybe it's a similar thing here?

Not that I can see a meaningful purpose that serves versus just telling us their names to start with.

I fail to see why he wouldn't introduce himself to Chief, like any soldier would and has in every other piece of Halo media.

Apperently they are going to do the same thing they did in MCC with the whole season/battle passes.
They are permanently there

New Infinite-focused Canon Fodder. Only a few screenshots posted below because of the image limit, but more are in the link.

To guide you through your early days in the process, you’ll be meeting Laurette Agryna, Spartan Academy Commander. As we have shown over in glimpses over the last few years, the Master Chief and other UNSC forces have embarked on a daring mission to stop Cortana's efforts to bring a cold and unforgiving order to the galaxy. With the Chief and other heroes occupied both at Zeta Halo and elsewhere across the galaxy, the need to train and prepare a new generation of Spartan super-soldiers has fallen on the very capable shoulders of Spartan Agryna, who is no stranger to what it means to have heroes that can be relied on. After enduring many challenges of her own, she’s now the one helping give others new chances to make a difference.
AVIATOR

Manufacturer
: Hannibal Weapon Systems
The AVIATOR helmet is tailored for use by cybernetically augmented aerospace pilots. Among its many special features is a high-bandwidth machine interlink configured to operate seamlessly with next-gen neural interlaces.

ZVEZDA

Manufacturer
: RKD Group
The ZVEZDA faceplate incorporates a programmable phased array antenna grid, though leveraging its full capabilities has proven to be a challenge for software developers.

SOLDIER

Manufacturer
: Materials Group
The latest iteration of the SOLDIER helmet features a new revision of Materials Group's combat catalyst firmware. The fireteam synchronization features remain unfinished, but Dr. Halsey's interest may accelerate development.

And of course, there are always additional attachments and items that Spartans can leverage to optimize their presence on any battlefield. Take the Spartan below for example (outfitted in the best color, orange), equipped with elements such as the Mk.VII with UA/ARMET helmet attachment, AAP/ORDNANCE PACK, UA/VIATOR shoulder pad, and transhumeral prostheses. And hey, that S7 Sniper Rifle isn’t too shabby either.

SKEWER

Its Jiralhanae design originating from before their alliance with the Covenant, the Skewer is an anti-tank spike cannon used by Banished packs for anti-personnel tasks. The massive, sharpened projectile is devastating—more than a match for titanium alloy armor at range—but reloading is a difficult task.

VK78 COMMANDO

Manufactured by Vakara GesmbH, VK78 Commandos were selected by the CMA frontier forces to replace their antiquated stocks of HMG-38’s in 2495.
BANSHEE

Kaelum Workshop: Attack Flyer

The Banshees that dominate the local Banished occupation fleet have been thoroughly optimized to increase armor and combat durability, but also to maintain the base chassis’ core performance aptitude.

CHOPPER

Bolroci Workshop: Attack Bike

The shared knowledge of six disparate clans contributed to the refined and imposing Chopper design that now permeates the Banished ranks. It’s raw firepower and visceral locomotion provide their forces with the perfect tool for both breaching and demoralizing any enemy presence.

GHOST

Riuctda Workshop: Scout Bike

The Ghost has proven to be as versatile a mainstay in the Banished garages as it was within the Covenant. This particular iteration focuses on forward armor while also providing enhanced firepower.

WASP

AV-49 Attack VTOL

Fast to produce and easy to maintain and optimize, the AV-49 has seen increased widespread use in environments and scenarios where versatility and low-profile operations are at a premium.

RAZORBACK

M15 Light Tactical Vehicle

Originally a specialized offshoot of the traditional Warthog, the latest Razorback model is the result of a robust design study that incorporated learnings from rigorous testing programs on several virtually uncharted worlds. Even without onboard weapon systems installed, the up-armored design and increased payload capacity makes the Razorback an equally viable option on the battlefield alongside its more ubiquitous porcine cousin.

One thing you may have noticed in various multiplayer gameplay shots is the presence of a personal artificial intelligence unit. For obvious reasons, it’s only natural to expect the UNSC—or anyone, really—to be reticent when it comes to any sort of interaction with AI given recent events. That being said, the reality is that these constructs, in various forms, remain undeniably integral to a large portion of the foundational systems in place for 26th-century life—in particular when it comes to the military. However, necessary precautions aren’t unwise to uphold, and the UNSC has maintained limited integration of more rudimentary constructs, tailored to a variety of specializations. For example, meet Lumu, one of the available constructs you’ll be able to try out and have assist you in your Spartan training and combat endeavors.

LUMU
Lumu constructs share a common citation calculus core with AI used in the fields of finance, providing a distinctive cost-benefit approach to decision-making assistance. That being said, they aren’t quite as fun at parties.
BEHEMOTH

It has survived for a hundred millennia, but this ring still holds fast to secrets yet unknown.

FRAGMENTATION

Now more than ever, Installation 07’s serene surface belies a deeper strain and conflict.

RECHARGE

Resource infrastructure facilities such as those run by Axys’ hydroelectric division help maintain stable energy grids for colony worlds throughout the UEG.

LIVE FIRE

Instructors at the Avery J. Johnson Academy of Military Science ensure their Spartans are prepared for any challenge that a hostile galaxy throws at them.

BAZAAR

The East African Protectorate's plan to rebuild the glassed urban core of Mombasa was ambitious and expensive, but Project Rebirth investment by the UEG and UNSC activity at the nearby Voi Excession has revitalized some sections of the metropolis.

So all Spartans are fielding Gen III armors now?
Yeah. 343i likes to pass off art changes as 'additional, not replacements'. In other words, the Jackals you love and the old model of Warthog are still there, still canon, but these variants also exist. In practice, new art replaces old art, especially when the artstyles are so radically incompatible.

Details on how Infinite's live service will be set up, an announcement for Kelly Gay's next novel, a synopsis for Troy Denning's next novel, and some GEN3 (plus one GEN1) armor lore. Slight spoilers for those who haven't yet read Shadows of Reach and Point of Light.
- Infinite's live service will be split between Seasons that are released roughly every 3 months, akin to the MCC's setup. The Season at launch will be called Heroes of Reach and, unsurprisingly, focus on Reach-based content.
- Through the Seasons, a goal is to "deeply root your Multiplayer character in the larger Halo universe and give them a vital, active role in the Halo story moving forward."
- Events called Fractures will provide players with special thematic rewards, whereas the Battle Pass and "other main vectors" will offer canonical customization options.

Kicking things off, today we’re excited to announce the next novel in this universe we all love—Halo: The Rubicon Protocol, penned by our stellar stablemate Kelly Gay. In her last novel, Halo: Point of Light, Kelly made a pit stop onto the surface of Zeta Halo while on a galactic gallivanting tour with our favorite Mariner-class spacecraft and its daring denizens. This time, our popular pen pal is heading back to Installation 07, but on a very different mission, and with a very different cast of characters.

As you may have been piecing together throughout previous trailers and information drops, Halo Infinite’s campaign begins roughly six months after UNSC forces were ambushed at Zeta Halo. During that time, the UNSC has been mounting a resistance on a shorn fragment of the ring, desperately trying to hold out long enough for hope to arrive. In Halo: The Rubicon Protocol, you’ll get a unique glimpse of humanity’s struggle to survive amidst a growing Banished occupation that takes place in that period.

To be clear, this adventure stands on its own—but if you find yourself enjoying and eager to learn more about some of the scattered stories you might encounter while playing the game, then Halo: The Rubicon Protocol will be right up your alley when it drops next March.

October 2559. With the galaxy in the suffocating grip of a renegade artificial intelligence, another perilous threat has quietly emerged in the shadows: the Keepers of the One Freedom, a fanatical and merciless Covenant splinter group, has made its way beyond the borders of the galaxy to an ancient Forerunner installation known as the Ark. Led by an infamous Brute named Castor, the Keepers intend to achieve what the Covenant, in all its might, failed to: activate Halo and take the last steps on the path of the Great Journey into transcendence…

But unknown to Castor and his new, unexpected ally on the Ark, there are traitors to the cause in their midst—namely the Ferrets, composed of Office of Naval Intelligence operative Veta Lopis and her young team of Spartan-IIIs, who have been infiltrating the Keepers to lay the groundwork for Castor’s assassination. But with ONI’s field operations now splintered and cut off by the Guardian threat, Veta’s original mission has suddenly and dramatically escalated in scope. There’s simply no choice or fallback plan—either the Ferrets somehow stop the Keepers or the galaxy faces an extinction-level event….

ANUBIS [GEN3]
Manufacturer
: Lethbridge Industrial

The ANUBIS is unusual in that its structural frame and core electronics are "grown" inside Sangheili assembly forges, though final assembly and integration uses traditional fabrication techniques.

MK.V ZETA [GEN3]
Manufacturer:
Materials Group

Spartans assigned to ONI's Xeno-Materials Exploitation Group on Installation 07 found that their upgraded MARK V's mix of high-threat response and surveillance interlinks were ideal for the ring's peculiar operating environment.

The CAVALLINO expands Emerson’s offerings with MJOLNIR-platform helmets, tailored for the needs of fireteam leaders, trainers, and combat observers.

Manufacturer
: Materials Group

GRENADIER helmets are officially categorized as prototypes, as NAVSPECWAR wrestles with the overwhelming cost of its lightweight armored composite shell.

Wow.

Just reading about what little we know of Halo Infinite, it's been brought home to me what a god damn narrative catastrophe Halo 5 was. What were they thinking!?

I don't think 343 meant to go full lefty but there's clearly some lefties in there as their behaviour matches up. They took the franchise, they tore it apart, shat all over everything that came before and tried to make it theirs right down to the art style (they even desexualised Cortana). The result is a total bastardisation of one of the greatest sci-fi shooters of all time.

The infuriating thing is that a post Halo 3 galaxy is a writers playground. Humanity getting back on its feet, dozens of Covenant Warlords fighting for the scraps of their old empire, the Arbiter trying to assert control, and perhaps even ONI being reluctant to hand over its war time powers. And this is what they gave us? Yet another fucking rogue AI story?

The books are pretty good.
Halo 5 wasn't THAT bad story wise.
It wasn't great either. Definitely worst of halo games

Still can't get over all the feminist butthurt over Cortana's appearance.

My only butthurt was that they gave Captain Keyes the wrong rank insignia.

Well, that and that only the first two games were given PC ports until the Master Chief Collection came along.

Beautiful women make the land whales feel insecure so they have to go, be they holographic or otherwise.

And, having read Fall of Reach, I can confidently say that Captain Keyes was taken from us too soon.
