So John Wick 4 will be a thing.
And it will have many new things in it. Specifically this time Donnie Yen will show up.
We'll see if the martial arts superstar can boost the awesome John Wick action scenes another level.
I like the franchise but I do feel that each sequel is a drop in quality from the previous one. I loved the oringals action and characters and overall storyline with the neat worldbuilding and very efficient tactical action scenes as well as Keanu Reeves' muted, understated performance as a complete badass.
But with every sequel I feel it just gets more bombastic, and more extravagant with its world building instead of just focusing on the story that they should be telling. They just keep inserting random things like some Grand Poobah who rules the Underworld from his Desert Caravan and dispatching nonbinary bureaucrats auditing wrongdoers etc etc.
I still think the movies are entertaining but they just don't grip me like the original one does. The action scenes in the third one were jsut as great and often step ups from previous films in the series but that doesn't always mean they are better. I remember getting kinda a ho-hum feeling after seeing the tenth goon horse kicked into oblivion and the final hotel scene with the army of armored goons was super meh for me since it was so repetitive. But overall it was still cool.
