I am hoping they get a strong leading hero. The frist part had Ironman leading the way supported by Captain Amercia. While the second was suppose to be lead by Captain Marvel. But while not bad Larson just doesn't have the same acting chops to be the face of the Marvel Universe like Robert downey Junior did.

I could see Spiderman taking a larger role but the fact that Tom Holland being a teenager means him taking a leading Role in the next Avengers movies far fetched.

I don't know if this is the year to open a thread about the Marvel Cinematic Universe... just think of the symbolic resonance regarding the vulnerability of our cultural totems and the affects it has on our psychological health because Marvel Studios hasn't released a movie this year.

THERE ARE NO HEROES IN 2020!!!:cry:😭

:sneaky:

A year we can't consoom... a year where the only major Superhero movie was Birds of Prey... Can this nation, nay the world, ever recover?

Bird's of Prey is not a superhero movie. I now it uses Harley Quinn and some other past Villainn and rogues to try and play hero but overall it feels more like Dude Where's My Car then a Deadpool movie.

Honstely they should have just played Quinn going on an adventure without trying to ape Deadpool including breaking the fourth wall.

As for the best time I think a year in between the end of the Old Marvel verse including the T.V. shows like agents of Shield which is the longest running one and trying to restart things after Endgame could help.

I think that Marvel has hit it's high point at back around Avengers 1 and 2. That is when Netflix and CBS where pumping out the Shows while the Theaters also had a Marvel movie in them most of the year.

Now I expect to see a couple of Marvel movies coming out but less of Marvel domaination that has happened snice Ironman.

I've said this before; but after the first Avengers movie, none of the crossover films have interested me in the slightest. Even many of the solo movies were unwatchable; the only ones I really remember enjoying are the first Iron Man, the first Captain America, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, and the Guardians of the Galaxy films. Everything else? I could have done without.

Heck, I outright despise the MCU's version of Captain Marvel and Spiderman, and those two are supposed to play big roles in the next phase; especially now that the guy who played Black Panther is dead. Honestly, the only film I'm even remotely interested in is the next Doctor Strange, and I probably won't even watch that one.

Mostly because his portrayal deviated massively from what I want in a Spiderman story. I don't want teenaged Spiderman, I want young adult Spiderman; and the less said about the other characters in this particular incarnation of his mythos, the better (seriously, young and sexy aunt May is just downright disturbing to watch). He also doesn't come across as a character in his own right; merely an annoying side character from a bad Avengers movie that somehow got his own series of spin-off movies.

Eh Tom Holland does pretty good and all. He did a pretty good job as Spidey. Honestly they do the story of him pretty well and they don't make him like he is in the comics.
The thing the MCU does better then the comics is characters age and die and stay dead.
Well to a degree.
But every vollian that has died has stayed dead, every hero as well.

Actually, that's the worst part of the MCU, in my opinion. Characters aging and dying does nothing but lock out further story opportunities. And Tom Holland is pretty much the worst Spiderman I've ever seen; I just want to punch his character in the face and never stop.

Why if I may ask? he is very similaiir to early stories of Spidey learning.

Really? Well the issue with the MCU over the Comics is actors age. You cant really keep all these stroeis going unless you film constantly. I am glad they are treating them like real people, as People HATE ow Marvel 616 does not really age their characters

Honestly Andrew Garfeild and the Amazaing Spiderman movies are the worst ones I have seen. His Spiderman was whiny angst ridden mess with badly written movies and lacking a decent villain to play off of.

The frist two with Tobey Magiure are good movies but there is a reason that they never made a fourth.

But both Homecoming and Far From Home are strong movies. They manage to keep the more light hearted joking attitude that Spidernan has while fitting into the Wide MCU Universe.

I do admit that a young Aunt May is dumb and they could have easily had the more traditional Aunt May. It seems like the the only reason for a young Aunt May is for a few jokes about Strak hitting on her during Homecoming.

As for you disliking character dying that is more personal. But I liked the fact that not everything gets rebooted every Movie like an old sitcom. There is a clear progression from the frist Ironman to Endgame. We see the world change from Shield being a secret organization to the world to a Hydra Front.

This is played in the background of movies like Spiderman. The after effects gave raise to the Vulture which gave one of the better back stories of a Marvel villain. Having Toomes fall into villainy and his motivations are what actually make decent villain and not an antihero like Loki became.

But overall Marvel has planned out the MCU universe and expect part of it to end. Having the passing of the torch to Spiderman and having heros and villains not come back from the dead again and again is nice to see in the Amercain superhero grene.

I expect maybe 5 to 10 more years of Marvel Movies with a few more T.V. shows and then you will start to see a reboot where MCU becomes just another different Universe. But having a long running universe is a good thing snice the other option is that the plot never moves forward and we see characters never change.

He just comes across as rather annoying and superficial in that teenagery sort of way.

I never saw the Amazing Spiderman movies; their reputation was enough to keep me away. I also never saw Homecoming and Far From Home, so I suppose I can't comment on their quality. All I can say is that the trailers and clips I saw on Youtube did nothing to make me want to watch them, or endear Tom Holland's version of Spiderman to me.

As for aunt May, they changed her for the same reason they radically changed everyone else in Spiderman's cast; to keep them out of the hands of Disney. Because of the contract they signed, Disney would be able to claim partial ownership of the film rights to any character (besides Spiderman) used in his MCU films; therefore, Sony created a bunch of knockoff versions so that they could maintain sole ownership of the rights to the original versions of characters like aunt May.

I mean...that is kinda like how Spidey is in the comics early in his career. Watch the movies they are pretty good, and the villain of the first movie became said villain for a good reason. The second movie is pretty good and introduces some new stuff that is pretty cool.

My problem with IM3 is how pointless it ended up being plot wise. Like Extremis had so much potential and yet nothing was done with it.

Captain Marvel was a fine movie on its own merits, but the marketing campaign for it was just offensive and how Marvel was treated in Avengers was shit.

Hulk, well haven't seen that in like a decade.

Once I saw Pepper go extremtis without going nuclear I was kind of expecting (and hoping) that she'd be this universe's version of Firestar. IM3 could have had the subtitle "Missed opportunists."

Captain Marvel was a decent buddy cop film but that's the thing she's the straight man of the team that needs someone to balance her out. She can't hold a film on her own...and bri can't hold anything period. Frankly I wish they had gone with the ms marvel from the 80s and cast someone like Bridgit Mendler

Well they are going off current comics and have Ms Marvel being Kamala Khan. That is why, as most younger audiences would wonder why Ms Marvel is white unlike the comics.

Captain Marvel was not that bad of a movie, Bri just sucks at marketing properly.
She plays CM decently well and acts like stuck up CM

I guess I'm an old soul but I rember the days when she was marvel's answer to wonder woman (and not frank millers version of wonder woman)

She has always been. Certain writers make her an ungrateful bitch, others actually do a good job. Recently she has been iffy depending on which book she is in and how is writing. her solo series is actually pretty good.

Am I the only one here that gives the marvel film an A- or B+? my two least favorite fims are the incredible hulk and IM3 and I thought only IM3 was outright bad. Incredible Hulk was just meh.

No, overall it was a better then average move that I liked but I like others better. It even had rewatch vaule which is the main way I judge movies.

Overall Marvel success with MCU is that most of its movies are average. True you get duds with Ironman 3 and Hulk are being poor showings. I would also put Thor 2 as one of the worst ones.

Ones like Captain America Frist Avenger, the Antmans and Black Panther are just average.

The T.V. shows are more of a mixed bag and I have not seen them all. Agent Carter had a strong frist season but fell apart in the second. Agents of Shield seasons are hit or miss. Other like Daredevil are good but have the greater MCU Universe as background information.

I would say gave them a try. Holland's Spiderman is more of the 90s highschool geek then anything else. Which is mainly what Spiderman is to me.

He is a geeky kid that was raised to the right thing but doesn't always know what the right thing is. He also feels overburdened by being Spiderman which is the main the focus of the plot of Far from Home.
