I agree that the timing is suspicious and I expect that it was an underhanded attempt to make Trump look bad. But that would be Jack Dorsey, not the Democratic Party that made that decision. Might they have put him up to it? Certainly. But he's got enough malice that he'd do it himself.

I would argue that you should wait until 2022 to decide on that. Right now, the Trump baggage that is proven, is really only that he tends to stir up the Liberals and so they will turn out in larger numbers. There is a potential that he might be stuck with the Jan 6th riots and I expect that the Media will try and stick it on him, believing that if they take Trump out, they take out the populist movement. Or at least, the hope that this will diminish their power. Both neocons and neoliberals would prefer that.

Right now though, I don't think there's any real way to know how the public feels. Primarily because I think the public is sick of the lockdowns and politics. They had to basically sit in their house while people on the left and the right rioted. And I think there are a fair number of Trump voters, moderate and right-wing, who are angry that the two riots were treated differently by the core media. BLM riots were treated as only protests, where as the Capital Hill riot was treated as if it were 9/11. Right now, I think the public is more interested in enjoying their summer, the autumn, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

That is a fair more optimistic outlook on the situation than I think is reasonable at this point.

So if Trump and his faction do well in 2022, then there's a chance that Trump is actually a favorable candidate. Because the communists and progressives are pissed at the rest of the Democratic party, so they may not show up. Because as far as they're concerned, there isn't much difference between Biden and Trump. And if they're going to get locked out of the Democratic apparatus, then why should they provide the Democrats with the votes?

I think Trump is better as gov of Florida, or as Speaker of the House, than back in the Oval. He has more freedom/a better shot at helping get DeSantis into office, while taking over the govship of Florida to keep it in GOP hands, or as Speaker, so he can really put the screws to their bullshit in the house and as a 'fuck you' to Pelosi.

Republicans have been introducing bills in states they control to combat that. And if there was cheating, the best time to ever do it was during the pandemic, because social distancing could be used as an excuse to limit witnesses. So unless there's a second pandemic in 2022 and a third in 2024, the Democrats aren't going to get that chance again.

That what the 'variants', 'boosters', and such are for, along with the new 'VaxToVote' shit they are pushing as a twisted way to screw with something Don Jr. said last summer.

The stole the 2020 election, and they are getting away with it in most regards; I do not share the rosy view of serious GOP gains in 2022 that many here seem to assume will happen.

Which is why I say to every one of you; get a fucking vaccine and encouraging others to get it. Because all you're doing is putting your fellow Republican voters in the hospital and giving the Democrats a built-in excuse to have COVID type restrictions. Republicans need to accept the loss and the bullshit of the last election and move forward.

They are already pushing 'credit' for the vaccines back to Trump, publishing articles about how the vaccines are not as effective as hoped, Israel has banned entry by vaccinated persons, and they are once again pushing for lockdowns and mask mandates.

They know the vaccines were mostly created that fast to try to bolster Trump, and the side effects that have been popping up...personally I'd rather have the virus (if I haven't already unknowingly had a mild case and dismissed it as allergies or such) than the vaccine. Wu Flu is endemic now; need to learn to live with it and adapt to it, rather than make everyone give up their civil liberities and civil rights indefinitely in a futile fight to stamp it out completely. As long as people live in fear of Wu Flu and let the govs do there bullshit, we will be giving this virus and those who have exploited it an undeserved victory.

People still catch and pass covid even with the vaccine. It just makes the virus less dangerous.

If you're not in a high risk group and don't want to get it, it doesn't really matter.

If you're high risk, you should get it.

Luckily most high risk people have gotten it.

This brings down the total death rates. You can have spikes in infection rates without big spikes in death rates. That's pretty much what we have been seeing lately.

Pretty much, you vaccinate those at risk, and this becomes no more deadly than the flu or a bad cold.

Except, they weren't just as bad?

There were plenty of newspapers in the 1860s that were Abolitionist, or pushed to allow for Blacks to vote and wouldn't have described allowing Blacks to vote as a "mistake" in the early 20th century. Granted most of them probably wouldn't have been called "Progressive" papers back in the day, but they did exist.

Long story short, the New York Times has an underserved reputation as the "paper of record", and actually has a history of supporting vile and evil things that is continuous throughout the 20th century that is consistently ignored.
