Will Nguyen, so he's probably a Vietnamese-American I'm assuming.

That's hilarious on it's own for its many ironies.

One irony that he should take comfort in is that the North Vietnamese communists spent thirty years, over a million lives, wiped out religious, political and ethnic minorities, triggered one of the largest refugee crisises in modern histort and aided and abetted other genocidal regimes in their glorious Communist victory.

Now they make our underwear.

Great Success! :sneaky:

Remember when you see a 'Made in Vietnam' tag on your clothing that they Won the War and this is what Communist Victory looks like.

Yeah, but that is what generally happens with people. Ruin your home > run away > ruin your new home. Rinse and repeat. Nobody wants to face consequences of their actions, yet nobody wants to admit they were wrong either.

I love when people reference Star Trek when they say "We too can have utopia". However they leave out that the Federation has it because the have unlimited energy and magic replicators that make food from dirt. They also leave out that the Federation protects it's utopia with it's giant frack off military. Also they leave out the fact that it's NOT REAL!!!!

What's interesting is that Star Trek fans tend to be more right wing and Star Wars fans more left wing. Dunno why, just something I observed.

I'm sure this will 'go over well'. *sigh*

If you provide an entertainment product, playing politics is like playing with fire. Do it right and you'll draw a large, energized, crowd. Do it wrong... and remember, half your crowd even when you do it right is hoping to see you light your face on fire.

While Start Trek has had some utopian ideation since TNG, the characters in the show have always mostly fit to more right-wing cultural concepts.

Mature or maturing. Resourceful. Courageous. Honorable. Diligent.

Brave explorers into the unknown is something traditional American spirit jives very well with, and all the way up through to Enterprise this is how the primary cast was depicted.

Yeah. I also like it when they say that "Starfleet isn't military, but explorers". I'm quite sure Age of Sail Royal Navy would laugh their arses off at hearing such a concept. As if two are somehow mutually exclusive.

These idiots keep insisting that Star Trek represents communism in spite of all the evidence against it, even if you don't take the word of god from GR himself that it didn't. I'll make it real succinct - people are depicted owning private property. All that bullshit about not having money has never gelled with how people are depicted as having jobs, either. Are the waiters on the Enterprise or in Sisko's restaurant "seeking to better themselves"? It's like the asinine insistence from GR and others that Starfleet isn't a military in spite of depicting it like one in every way.

As for the OP, it's just another sign of the times, frankly.

Even in the fictional ST universe this no money society doesn't work.

Maybe earth/federation did away with money...they just use other people's currency. They buy stuff off quark with latinum all the time, for example.

They still use money.
