Anyways about a week ago this trailer dropped and I figured I ought to share it with people here in case they haven't seen it. The game definitely looks interesting and ambitious. Anyways, I am posting this with scant commentary (I'll share my opinions if this thread picks up), so I'll let the batshit insanity speak for itself.

The trailer is pretty funny. I think they missed the obvious opportunity to fit in harvesting Pokemon for their organs or body parts joke somewhere in there. We do know that Pokemon are canonically eaten in the setting, like Slowpoke tails or Magikarp, so why not depict that? Could also do the Kenshi thing of grinding up Pokemon for their hides.

Otherwise, the game looks trashy.

Probably because it is.

The developers have another unfinished MMO survival game they created called Craftopia that's currently unfinished... and they just hired four more developers to work on making Palworld.

I would not count on the game being very deep.

Neither would I, but it might be a diamond in the rough. Either they are going to bottle lightning ala Valheim, make a passable game that serves its purpose, or just be more Indie shovelware.

I am going to post any updates or new info that I stumble upon as things develop, because I do think it has potential even though as I said I share the same reservations as people here.

New trailer for Palworld is out

In the first trailer, it seemed like you would get to enslave Pokemon and work them in sweat shops, but this trailer seems to make the slavers out to be enemy NPCs you fight, which is disappointing. Nonetheless cautiously optimistic about this game.

Also, yay Pokemon eating Pokemon!

This... actually reminds me more of Monster Rancher where you did indeed use your monsters for forced labor and their short lifespan was cooked into the games to encourage you to constantly replace them as they wore out. The one doggo getting a belly rub even looks a lot like Tiger of the Wind.

LOL, Twittards really don't have anything better to do. Short summary of the video: Palworld (basically an open world survival game a la Minecraft, Ark, and Rust, paired with monster collecting a la Pokemon) blew up in popularity and now the usual wokie losers, particularly the Pokephiliacs and game "journalists", are losing their shit and trying to cancel the game because:

a) You can hunt and kill the cute monsters and gather item drops from them (aka the usual thing you can do to living things in every survival game)

b) You can turn the monsters (and the human NPCs) into your personal slave workforce a la the Minecraft villagers, except now it's a deliberate game mechanic

c) They screaming about ripping off the Pokeymans

OK...so for a and b, it's bitching about basic and common survival game mechanics being only problematic now because now it's being applied to cute monsters? LOL. And for c, how many monster collecting games have we had now since Pokemon was released decades ago? The fucking train has left for complaining about Pokemon ripoffs a long while now.

Hahaha, after watching a bunch more videos and reading posts of people playing Palworld and looking at the descriptions of the items and monsters, there is no way you can convince me that there isn't a parody element to it. Like, for example, the 69th monster in the game's Pokedex equivalent is Lovander, a pink lizard that is constantly horny and whose strike zone not only is the other Pal monsters, but also humans. :ROFLMAO: There is no way there wasn't a shitposting element to this game.

Game is pretty fun. and less glitchy than the last pokemon release. If you like ARK or pokemon it is good. definitely taking the mickey a bit but hell why not have a penguin rocket launcher.

The woketard who tweeted out "proof" that Palworld copied Pokemon 3D models has been revealed and admitted to the fact that he made it all up. Shocker.

Meh, Conan Exiles explicitly involves you going out, capturing people, breaking them on the wheel, and turning them into slaves... this entire mechanic is old hat for the survival genre.

Fun fact if Palworld used idead and such from Pokemon...why didn't Nintendo come down on the developers like an Angry deity? Japan has no fair use laws and both companies are in Japan. Also it was in development for three years so Nintendo had plenty of time.

They can strike on mods.

Also, it could be that whatever they could throw a them wouldn't work.
