A thread for random ideas for any fandom whatsoever: To discuss them, develop them, and to think on them. Essentially a placeholder until we get more members. Only rule? Just post what franchise it's for (or franchises if it's a crossover). So here we go:

Star Trek

So, an extremely stupid but potentially funny idea: According to the DS9 technical manual, many Galaxy-class starships were finished with more than 40% of their internal volume unfinished and sent into combat. So apparently they didn't need that stuff just to be a fighting ship.

And of course, thanks to volumetrics done by ST vs SW.net, we have this for internal volume of a Galaxy-class starship.

Of course, they wouldn't really need to have dedicated troop transports at Cardassia, except perhaps to prevent large ships like the Galaxy Class from having to do everything. After all, the total Galaxy volume is about 5,800,000m³. Per each of the 42 decks, we'd have an average of about 138,000m³. Of course, we're still working in three dimensions, so we need to excise the height value. If we divide by 3.5m (just as a rough average deckheight), we end up with an average floor area per deck of 39,400m². Multiply by 42 decks, and we end up with 1,654,800m². Some, of course, would be taken up by walls, machinery, tankage, and other similar elements. If 40% is so employed, then the remaining space would equal 992,880m², or just under a square kilometer of room. Not accounting for life support requirements, you should be able to squeeze in several thousand people easily . . . the World Trade Center had about a square kilometer of rentable space and was generally occupied by about 50,000 people.

Mass certainly wouldn't be an issue . . . Intrepid Class ships like Voyager weighed in at 700,000 metric tons, and the Galaxy Class would be at least about 10 times that massive. Thus, if you assume that a Starfleet soldier and his equipment weighed 400 pounds (181kg), then even with 50,000 troops you're only talking about adding 9,100 metric tons . . . a drop in the proverbial bucket. We do know with certainty that the Enterprise-D could carry some 15,000 extra people at least, as per the discussions regarding the evacuation of that many colonists in "The Ensigns of Command"[TNG3]. Given the possibility of 50,000 or more, mixed with the space needed by soldiers for readiness, supplies, and storage of other materiel, up to 15,000 troops and support personnel seems like a decent figure. (The alternate-universe Enterprise-D from "Yesterday's Enterprise"[TNG3], incidentally, was said to be capable of carrying 6,000 troops, though as a battleship her internal configuration was presumably a bit less cozy.)
So, let's think of ridiculous things that a Galaxy-class starship in peacetime could carry. The sillier the better, to match with the silliness we saw in many TNG episodes where the Enterprise-D functioned as essentially a space Holiday Inn/Convention Center/Uber ship. As per canon, the facilities that a Galaxy-class starship can carry are:

-Cetacean Operations (So a giant aquarium for our aquatic friends)
-An arboretum.
-Gyms.
-A pool.
-Elementary School.
-Theater/Concert Hall
-Salon
-Replicator Centers
-Workshops
-General relaxation areas
-Phaser range

So! What else could you put onto a Galaxy-class starship for fun/ridiculous purposes? And for short bits detailing just why poor Worf had so much trouble while on the Enterprise-D?

Here are a few random ideas:

-A full on Comic/Pop Culture Convention is held on the Enterprise-D! While a few recognizable franchises still endure into the 24th century, there are plenty of other new ones too! Including, strangely enough, the Dixon Hill holonovel series. So Picard is all for this and nerding out (though the newest Fate franchise that turns Shakespearean Characters into anime waifus is a bit much for him). See Data attempt cosplay! See Worf argue with Federation gamers on the most honorable Klingon import hologames! See Troi have to put up with hundreds of fanboys over her voice acting in a few holonovels! And Wesley tries to deal with his mom taking part in his holo DnD sessions!

-The Enterprise-D must broker a peace between two warring planets by way of ritualistic combat: Automotive racing. To help with this, Data has four holographic avatars created of the greatest automotive experts from Earth's history: Jeremy Clarkson, James May, Richard Hammond, and The Stig. Who, to do this properly, require a space on the ship to be used as their studio.

-The Enterprise-D has to transport not only a gigantic alien circus troupe with their animals, but also a ballet company, a platoon of MACOs with powered armor, refugees from a planetary disaster, AND the students from Vulcan, Human, Betazoid and Klingon high schools. And it has to deliver them all to the exact right places on time.

I dont write much fanfiction but I elaborated a bit on a suggestion by @Marianne Williamson for an MCU/The Boys crossover with the character Homelander specifically. It was interesting to me and if someone wants to take it and run with it feel free.

Homelander being so warped is because he was raised as a science experiment. Thats why hes so different from the others, who are mostly just sociopathic degenerates because they are rich, famous, vastly more powerful than human beings and highly shielded from any consequences of their actions. He would probably end up just as screwed up because of how he was raised if done the same way in the MCU. A good way of porting him over IMO, would be a cold war attempt at remaking Captain America to fight Russia but got scrapped following the Soviet Collapse of 1991. Lost the purpose of being a weapon and with it the weapons contract deal of Vought with the US Military following the military cut and draw down of the 90s, was instead repurposed by the company who created him as a street crime fighter/PR guy/Tourist Attraction/Celebrity and sold by contract to say, LA or New York for protection. Maybe gets rolled into the Avengers initiative without the others knowing his dark secrets and how hes been used as a weapon to silence potential whistleblowers on the government, or hell a hydra agent. The parallels between him and Captain America would certainly be entertaining to see. Maybe have them be buddies with Homelander doing his, "no, you are the real hero cap. You are veteran who signed up to fight for your country no matter how many times you got turned away." Good ideas abound there.

You forgot the Brothel...Opps I mean massage parlor, Andrew. As for a snippet.

"Maintaining the ship? I know I know, why am I lugging around 25kilos of tools and spare parts while the 'engineers' make do with a small bag and a tricorder? Because they couldn't find their backside if given a map, written instructions and sitting on their own hands."

"Don't get me wrong , they have the right training but you need a translation matrix to make out what they are saying , most of the time. 'Invert the polaron array and then reverse the polarity of the flux capacitor.' The fuck? Any idiot can see you burned out the relay and need to replace the motherboard with a new one. You contact spares and they transport one too you. No need to play with the circuits. The stuff I lug around is so I can yank the broken parts out, and fix new ones in their place. Thermal grease, cleaning solvent, ESD rated equipment because tractor beams will fuck up circuitry if used that damn close."

"Like I said my job is to fix shit ,and get things done. Well I have no clue what I'll need until I get there. So I have the tools to lug. After removal the old part is sent to maintanace . they give it the once over and refurbish it or have the industrial replicator break it down for spare parts. Waste not, want not and it cuts down on the stuff we carry as cargo. "

"Now you want an underappreciated group...there's the poor sad sacks down in supply to think about. Poor bastards."

One interesting crossover for My Hero Academia? Fist of the North Star. Now, hear me out.

The Dark Times were a time of global anarchy, after all. Remove the nuclear devastation and you still have a world in chaos. And you have a few men with the power of the greatest martial arts ever created, each making their own way in this divided world.

Rao wants to force order onto the world. Kenshiro, justice. Toki, peace. Jagi, his own selfish ambitions. The practioners of Nanto Seiken, their own ambitions. All these men against humans with powers that can match, even exceed their own.

How would this world look, if the users of One for All made it their mission to bring hope back to the world against such powerful foes? And such powerful potential allies?

Yet another Trek plot bunny.

Yes, the Federation economy isn't capitalistic exactly (that's a whole can of worms not to open here), but there's no reason private companies couldn't still exist. They just compete for doing better, to be the best, and to further enhance their craft and help the Federation rather than just gaining more resources. And it makes sense most of the people who build for Starfleet are just a few particular firms and so on so their design language is largely the same (as it's also a military). And finally, it is known... That Captain Picard loves to drive wheeled vehicles very, very fast.

So what I'm proposing is exploring motor racing and ground vehicles in general in the Star Trek universe. Many futuristic concept cars today could be common vehicles (with appropriate tech enhancements) in the 24th century. Many car companies could still exist (working just for the joy of it or to beat other companies in contracts and racing and advancement). And many of our favorite characters might end up in ridiculous situations involving ground vehicles.

So, here is a plot bunny:

Jean-Luc Picard hears about a Bajoran Grand Prix with an amateur category, and immediately wants to enter. His crew helps out, and they'll have to be at their best because a racing team from DS9 is also in the running. Each stage is on a different planet of the Bajoran system... And each has different challenges:

Naturally you can just have the proper Top Gear/Grand Tour presenters, in the form of holograms, hosting their own motoring show into the 24th century too. That might be hilarious.

A few random plot bunnies:

-Evil Morty from Rick and Morty has incredible willpower, determination, intelligence and a desire to end the evil of the Ricks across the multiverse. So how much worse do things get if he obtains a Keyblade?

-Serenity from Firefly ends up in Star Wars during The Old Republic era.

-Life is Strange is actually the rise of a supervillain in the MCU, and the Avengers have to stop the Time Mistress: Aka Maxine.

A Skyrim Si, but instead of being the Dragonborn, you are Ulfric Stormcloak. Suddenly you are leading a Rebellion you may or may not agree with, but are suddenly too deep into stop. Dragon's are back so you're potential Kingdom is getting burninated. The local fanatsy Romans and Nazi Elves want you deader than dead, and you've got to guide the amnesiac, mentally unstable, weirdness magnet Dragonborn through their destiny so that when you die a giant black dragon can't nom your immortal soul. Also there are Vampires plotting a convoluted scheme and their castle is a few days ride from your city and a crazy dragon cult forming on the only island that trades with you.

Have fun!

The titular Creepypasta, except the MC, Sam Walker is actually a reincarnated character from another series

Who maintains the great superhuman physical abilities even in the new body, but none of the memories until sheer horror of finding the town’s secret, makes him remember.

images

Any and all smug evil rapist human trafficking assholes ask/scream “WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU!?!?”

The entire story basically becomes the townsfolk of Drisking, Missouri screaming in terror at seeing a teleporting(he just moves really fast in-between eye blinks)”smiling” monster in human form who’s hits cause people’s body parts to rotate and snap

More Plot Bunnies:

-Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn: Steampunk detectives in the 1890s!

-Talia al Ghul decides to switch sides and marries Bruce/Batman, becoming his wife and the new Lady Wayne.

-Based on the DCAU, what if the Justice League wasn't initially formed with the invasion of the White Martians, but by Superman out of several of his former enemies to try and help rehabilitate them? Livewire, Parasite, Volcana, and a few others.

Wouldn't mind seeing a fanfic that ran with both of these.

Idea: After getting shot by Contessa in the back of her head, Taylor Hebert wakes up in an entirely new body and a girls in gundam swimsuit cosplay shooting at her

She now plans on finding out exactly WTF is going on!? And avoiding killing the girls whom she finds out have entire organizations all over the world dedicated to shooting at her

Taylor also wonders what’s with the dress before going incognito and pretending to be an ordinary purple haired young girl, who just so happens to stay in her teens for more than three decades

And cleaning it. Those poor space janitors.
In the DS9 episodes when they were searching Earth for Changeling infiltrators, the room where they were testing phaser sweep power levels used a pre-installed phaser mount that could cover the entire room. Pre-installed being the key term, I think: I suspect Star Fleet's janitorial service is managed by automated internal phaser turrets.
Jean-Luc Picard against the Emissary, who lost his wife at Wolf 359? With a former Enterprise engineer helping the latter? That race is going to be about interpersonal drama at least as much as action.
-Serenity from Firefly ends up in Star Wars during The Old Republic era.
We talking KotOR or the MMO?
-Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn: Steampunk detectives in the 1890s!
So, a prequel to the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen movie?

Idea: Korriban gets ISOTed into the Mass Effect Milky Way somewhere between humanity making peace with the turians and the start of canon. They hear about what the Geth did to the Quarians, have flashbacks to the end of the Great Hyperspace War, and look into the matter further.

Korriban? You know I’m sorta disappointed that I never got into the Expanded Universe before Disney killed it or something

How close to Citadel space do they appear, though?

Also
Idea: Westeros and Essos somehow are ISOT’ed and fused with the world of Azeroth

Varian Wynn and his son Anduin and the rest of the Alliance now have to deal with headaches from Westerosi nobility and their marriage proposals and knowing that each “slight” from rejection causes a possible Red Wedding-esque scenario somehow

The Horde meanwhile somehow ends up being raided by Essosi powers, resulting in them conquering the Free Cities and dealing with politics and stuff

Okay, I haven’t played WOW in a LONG time, so I’m not sure what exactly would happen politically speaking and its up to whoever takes this idea as to when they combine

I just like the idea of the Warcraft side having to deal with inane and annoying marriage proposals and a difference in social values

Hmm... the Shadow Sea seems like a good place to ISOT any planet that you want to throw into the political blender.

As for your ISOT idea... the Horde is primarily in the west, while the Alliance is more eastern, so having them contact like that would involve either being two sides of the same globe (House Farwynd for the win!) or opposite poles crossing an equator to make contact.

House Fairwind screws itself over with an attempted raid on the greenskinned giants, don’t they? Well they ARE Ironborn.

An entire generation or two of Ironborn being ruled and maybe raised by Orc culture after their Drowned Priests get executed and Shamanism spreads....sounds interesting from a sort of cultural social political manner. New generation lives under and maybe likes it way better than the old religion and general shittiness

I recall you did Worm fics on SB before

How would you make this work

Idea: A Trap!Taylor or essentially a Rule63 version of Taylor who has the pretty femininity canon Taylor lacks triggers with the fighting skill and power of this guy

Trigger involves being emasculated repeatedly by the Trio and Danny being in a coma with increasing hospital bills

Using this new “power” Trap!Taylor participates in all manner of illegal fights to pay said bills and even tries dropping out of high school and disappear from sight

Weird drama or set of occurences happen and a secret underground parahuman tournament set up by gang bosses all over the USA is made and Lisa is her “sponsor”

Also, maybe stuff involving breaking Emma’s ego by redirecting her attempts to hit him and being real apathetic

Without a more specific catalyzing moment to act as a sort of capstone to the campaign of abuse, that particular combination of trigger elements would get... dual stress sources, material needs, Binary plus Resource equals Necromancer, a Tinker who builds in two specialties, and needs a particular exotic resource to build outside either specialty. Obviously not what you're going for, so I recommend fine-tuning the trigger event.

Combat Thinkers trigger from intense anger and resentment. Body image issues lend toward Changer powers, or Changer-like powers such as the Muscle type Brutes, which are triggered by focused physical harm and struggle. I recommend a confrontation with emasculating words, with the crescendo being a cheap shot from Sophia of the sort that invokes a rage inherited from Taylor's hospitalized father.

Who's acting as Taylor's guardian while Danny is in a coma?
