Rest in Peace Anatoly Gerashchenko, former head of the Moscow Aviation Institute.

Not sure if "flying" is the appropriate term to use here even in translation.

Huh? That is suspiciously mundane cause of death but unless they release an autopsy report we would never know for sure.

Russia has increased its Defense and Security Spending to $155 billion this next year according to Reuters. This is about 18% of the United States' defense (and partial security) budget with most of the increase in the budget coming from a 50% increase to Russia's security funding, specifically the state Investigative Committee, the prosecutor's office, the prison service and the National Guard while Defense spending will supposedly only increase 1%.

Reuters said:
The 2023 budget will see spending on the "national economy" - including roads, agriculture, and research and development - fall by 23% to 3.5 trillion roubles. Healthcare is to get 9% less - or 1.5 trillion roubles - while education spending will be cut by 2% to 1.4 trillion roubles.

Infrastructure and industrial spending will fall by 23.5% and 18.5% respectively, according to a joint study by the Russian Presidential Academy (Ranepa) and the Gaidar Institute. That "could trigger significant difficulties" at a time when Moscow is trying to find new markets away from the West, the institutes said.

Social spending such as pensions and welfare, a cornerstone of Putin's domestic economic policy and used to court voters in previous campaigns, will total 7.3 trillion roubles - an 8% rise but still less than the combined military and security budget.

I wonder if they'll start falsely accusing people of crimes now, just so they can send them to Ukraine as cannon fodder.

Meanwhile - Medvedev on Russia's endless supply of More Dakka.
Take it away Dmitry:
“Enemies of Russia are still carefully “calculating” our losses and our reserves. They hope in vain to diminish our capabilities. It continues. Enough for everyone, not only for Ukraine! We have thousands of missiles for everyone in Europe, thousands of bombs for Germany, for France, for Great Britain, our stocks are unlimited because we work day and night on refilling them up. The rain of Russian missiles and bombs never ends. it is a field in which we can outproduce everyone. Meanwhile NATO reserves and NATO warehouses are already empty, that’s why politicians of the USA try to engineer a peace between Russia and Ukraine because they know that they can’t win with our industrial potential.”

Original is in Polish I think - ATP could maybe confirm if the translation there is right.

This shit is why no one takes him seriously. He's virtue signalling to the hardliners, and the hardliners love the myth of Russian military superpower status more than ever (disregard their inability to defeat Ukraine all of NATO mercenaries pretending to be Ukrainian Army).

Oryx did a breakdown of documented Russian (and opposing forces) heavy equipment losses in previous Russian Federation Conflicts. It notably doesn't include things like trucks and other light vehicles in the earlier Chechen Wars.

The First Chechen War (1994-96)

The Second Chechen War (1999-2000)

And the 2008 Russo-Georgian War.

The Kuz is even more fucked than we thought.

She's become a maintenance nightmare. To my mind it's either time to send her to the scrap yard, or convert her into a museum ship. The latter is a good option by the way, as a floating museum to the Soviet Navy would garner the interests and visits of many.

Yes, specifically the tech-heresy of improper application of sacred maintenance rites.
Are you suggesting that The Omnissiach is showing them the Sacred Sign of:

Museum? That would imply making it look nice and ensuring it stays floating. Some people suggested turning it into a filming location for horror movies.

No, she's a logistic sink we want Russia to have to maintain.

They can fix her, they cannot really replace her anymore given the heavy industry loss their invasion of Ukraine has cost them.
