I mostly liked EoE. Incredible art and animation quality and very bombastic. One of the best fight scenes in anime. The scene of everyone inside NERV being gunned down and flamed sticks with me. The heroes failing to save the world was a refreshing twist, but by after everything is said and done, the main character comes off as particularly loathsome for being a coward at the critical moment, refusing to pilot his mech while his comrade was desperately fighting and eventually eaten alive. Not that the outcome was likely to be different given the knowledge gap between the heroes and the powers that be and the overwhelming resources at SEELE's disposal, but Shinji didn't even try. By the time he gets into the Eva, it's too late. Everyone is dead and SEELE's mass produced Evangelions have finished with Asuka and promptly capture him, and then that's it.

I was so pissed that he didn't try to save her while she was screaming that he wasn't there to help.

He also got the Captain killed because of his moping >.> If he'd not been slowing her down they would have never shot her and she probably would have figured out how he could get into his Eva quicker to save Asuka.

My favorite anime is Princess Nine. I have a weird connection to that anime.

Seira - the delinquent with bright red hair - is based on a gal named Seira who I knew when that was new to American audiences. The anime/manga Seira is much toned down when compared to the real Seira Morimura just to make the character believable.

Evangelion, while a fascinating look into the director's mental issues and technically brilliant in many ways, is not something you watch to completion if you want to enjoy yourself.

So Mando Season 3 is out. First episode was bad. Like I finished it while shaking my head at some of the writing choices. Trying to recreate IG-88 is a terrible idea, and the fact they literally tore down his memorial to do it? That made me cringe.

Episode 2 was much more enjoyable IMO. And funnily enough the whole IG-88 subplot is dropped completely right at the start when Mando is told finding the part he needs is going to be hard. So he goes ahead and does what he needed a droid for with a Astromech instead of a assassin droid. So pulling the memorial down was completely pointless. Thanks Disney. You just destroyed a droids Memorial for a heroic selfless act for nothing... Except I'm sure IG-88 will show up later in the season out of nowhere to save the heroes. I can practically smell the foreshadowing.

Watching Pacific Rim TV series on Netflix.

Before I go any further is it good or a waste of time?

I dropped it. Wouldn't recommend.

If you want more mecha anime, then I would recommend watching a few Gundam shows. Gundam: War in the Pocket is a 6 episode OVA and requires no prior knowledge of the setting. The Vision of Escaflowne (tv show) was made by the same studio and features mecha in a Final Fantasy-esque world and has great art and animation, though it can be slowly paced at times.

I have not seen it but have only heard it is average at best. Sounds like the normal Netflix screw up.

I just found out Crunchyroll has Noir. It is a 1 season show that is a complete serris.

For those that don't know about it Noir is an anime from Kōichi Mashimo who also did Madlax, El Cazador de la Bruja which fromed an informal girls with guns trilogy.

The show focuses on two young female assassins to discover their pasts. It has a decent amount of action tied into an interesting plotline that inculdes a age old conspiracy. Kirika Yuumura wakes up with no memories and hunts down Mireille Bouquet as the only peice of knowledge to her past is a pocketwatch tied to Mireillie.

Overall the animation is a little dated but still holds up well. The background especially Paris are spot on and they don't reuse scene like some cheap anime do. The muted colors are more of a style choice and it is done without massive amounts of CGI.

The is also a draw snice it plays a large role in helping tell the story instead of just filling the air to make scenes less awkward.

So a nice blast from the past and something I have not seen in years. Also the lack of massive fan service in almost every anime is nice to see.

Finished Babylon 5 season 1

It's hard to root for the Earth Alliance when every EA officer that comes to Babylon 5 is an asshole (except for Jeffrey Combs).

Sheridan's actor has a nice smile. However, I don't like the main character being recast. I am already loyal to Sinclaire, and it's dissatisfying to see the main character's development be reset. Everyone else has built up their relationships with each other except for Sheriden, whos is behind everyone. We also have plot regression as Sheriden doesn't believe in the prophecies or G'kar's report of the Shadows and the other plot stuff. If Sinclaire was here he wouldn't be dismissing the plot out of hand, he'd be trying to figure it out. It feels like G'kar is the hero now; he's the one going out there risking his life and trying to figure out the plot. Also sad that we will never get to see Babylon 5 blow up and Sinclaire travel through time and become The One and lead the resistance against the Shadows from Babylon 4 with Zathrus. Also not a fan of Sheriden turning out to be this badass who didn't get screwed over during the Earth-Minbari War like everyone else but blew up the enemy's flagship.

Cowboy Bebop is on Netflix right now IIRC.

Wasn't able to finish Cyberpunk Edgerunners. I did thoroughly enjoy that Arcane series they put up even though I have no idea on anything League of Legends related.

Guess I can watch Bebop, not interested in Cyberpunk because the normies ruined it 😂

Arcane is kinda meh imo

I've been informed Code Geass is on Netflix and that it has plenty of mecha action. I've heard of it but never saw it myself. Only used it's lore for Unpopular Versus Threads.

Surprised no real Gundam stuff (for the most part) on Netflix though.

Actually saw Code Geass already, pretty good.

Would recommend if you've seen Death Note.

If you stick with it, there's a very good chance Sheridan will grow on you. Regardless, the whole series is worth watching for the character development of Londo and G'kar alone.

(And just to elaborate a little on Sinclair getting replaced: it was a case of 'real life writes the plot'. Michael O'Hare suffered from severe mental illness and had paranoid delusions. Straczynski even offered to delay production to allow him time to seek treatment, but O'Hare knew it would put the series at risk. So they agreed he was to be written out. Straczynski kept his condition secret, so as not to damage his career. But since O'Hare's strange behaviour had left some with the impression that he was deliberately being an ass, Straczynski revealed what had really happened after O'Hare passed away in 2012.)

I do recommend Edgerunners. Even if you got spoiled it does a great job of giving you the feel of what living in the city is like. You honestly don't even have to finish it, but give it an episode or two just to take in the setting is pretty fun.

Oh neat. I'll check it out then. Been on a bit of a Anime kick that comes and goes. Kinda annoyed I bought Cowboy Bebop and now its on Netflix but... PHYSICAL MEDIA is important I guess. I also recently got the seasons for Black Lagoon and the movie Princess Mononoke that I wanted to watch when I get some time. Getting TriGun is on the list as well.

I saw parts of Black Lagoon and TriGun when I was growing up but never finished either. And I've seen like one episode of Cowboy Bebop so I need more.

I have seen Death Note actually and really liked it. You're talking about the excellent Netflix adaption correct? I never saw the anime or read the manga. From what I'm told, engaging in that material might actually ruin my appreciation for the live action adaption. :sneaky:

Interesting that if I like Death Note that I'd like Code Geass though, that's kind of interesting I guess.

I find it overrated myself. It does an o.k. job at frist mixing high school hijinks with fighting a war. But the second season is a major let down and the ending is a mess.

For anime I believe Planetes is on netflix right now. It is a more sclice of life story about a team that works on cleaning up space debris. Overall a good show.
