Stranger Things Season 4

I've seen the future...
So does anyone here watch the series? The first half of Season 4 of Stranger Things was posted on Netflix yesterday.

I honestly wasn't sure what to expect. There's been quite a bit of hype, but I've been reserving judgement. That said, I went ahead and binge watched the whole first half last night, and my feelings overall are.....eh, mixed?

I will post more thoughts later, and give fair warning to any potential spoilers. There are a few things I liked from this season, other aspects ho-hum, and some parts....oh god, what the hell were the writers thinking?? I will say this though...cruel as it sounds, I think the cast is overdue for some hedge-trimming as it's even bigger this season, believe it or not.

But to anyone else who's watched the new season, what is your take on it?

It's gonna take more than that. We dumped Netflix, not because of their politics, but because they were sexualizing children.

@The Whispering Monk I would do the same problem is that Netflix is still the best available in Italy and my mother with chemo has a lot of free time and when she isn't well or she is tired Netflix helps pass the time.

Watch just to see it to the end. I see it as a more mature version of Goonies, with a more pronounced horror spin and this last reason is pretty much the only reason why I watched it from the start.

I was surprised it wasn't on the front page when I opened up Netflix the other day, I had to look up the show to verify that the new episodes had dropped.

Netflix isn't doing the best for itself lately...except eliminating unsalvageable mainstream American diversity leftists.

Finished binge watching Season 4. I'll put down some thoughts later, assuming anyone's interested, but later of course to avoid spoilers. My feelings on the season overall? Mixed. Eh...decent. Not great, but not terrible either, though I do believe at this time they seriously need to start pruning the roster a bit. IE disable the "character shield generator". And it does look like they are going for a Season 5.

Alex Meyers over at Youtube has some thoughts on the show, which I kind of agree with, YMMV of course.

So just finshed the new season. I do think that it is stronger then season 3 but weaker then season 1 and 2. The cast gave good performances but is becoming bolated.

I have to agree that the the multiple plot lines are becoming a problem. In season three we saw some of this but all the plotlines at least felt relevant to the main plot and the Mind Flayer.

Season four had three main plot lines but the fourth with the trip into Russia just felt like an ad on to keep Hopper and Jocey on standby for season 5.

Also the teenage drama between Mike and 11 got a little old. Will felt like the writers really had no idea what to do with this season and was just riding along on Mike's adventure.

The charater interaction between Steve and Dustin continues to be one of the high points of the series. Also the growth and expansion of Eddie was nice to see. He went from a stereotype 80's wanna be punk to have some decent depth.

The expansion 11 background continues to be interesting and the killing scene fake out worked. I also like the relationship between Papa and 11. It was nice to see the dysfunctional and toxic ties the lab brought about.

I did kind of disliked the back story of the villain. I perfered the earlier seasons with the monsters being more Lovecraft with an mysterious background and inhuman.

I am looking forward to season 5 and hope the build up at the 3nd of season 4 leads to a decent final season.
