Web Content The Art of Deplatforming

Not my work here. This is an intriguing look at the insides of deplatforming and how it functions, as well as motivations. While The Sietch heavily focuses on the political aspects A4squared makes a sound argument that it's also heavily financially motivated. The lines between acceptable and unacceptable content are kept deliberately vague and blurred so that small-time users who get too many views, too much exposure, and start outshining the established, monied interests can be demonetized and then if needed de-platformed and removed before they can become a real threat, while the established powers can provide the same content but because the lines are so blurry, they are found not to have broken the rules.

Of course, the exact same strategy is also employed against political enemies of the established powers as well, with blurry ever-moving hateful content and misinformation rules that can be used to deplatform one side and leave the other untouched.
