So is anyone else a fan of this game service?

And what games have you played via the Epic Game Store and how come you never talked about that game in this thread you communist shills? :)

"Free" GTA 5. That is merely the lure of the angler fish.
Like, permanent free GTA 5. That's a pretty good lure. What you should be concerned about is Riot, which is completely owned by tencent, as opposed to Epic, which is minority owned.

I am never going to use the Epic store no matter what they offer. If the communist Chinese want my date then I'm going to at least make them work at it.

I've been doing business with Epic since the days of ZZT (and churned out a few ZZT boards back on the CompuServe Forums) so I'm pretty on-board with the Epic Store. I know my information's being stolen but I presume that's already being done by most websites I visit anyway, the Sietch is one of the very few sites that turns up no scripts and no trackers at all. That being the case I don't worry about one more megacorp having info on my gaming habits. I like that the games you get from Epic will run without an internet connection, though I'm not sure if they'll run if I uninstall it entirely.

Been playing the heck out of Surviving Mars from their free offering a month or so ago.

I like the free games. I think I spent money on one game total there. If the CCP wants to bankroll various gaming companies in exchange for data of questionable utility, I'm happy to take their money by proxy.

One thing I do like is that it seems I can run Epic games when my internet is out, but I can't do that with my Steam games. I'm not 100% sure that doesn't just mean I don't have Steam set up though, but living in the boonies I have bad internet, and losing my games when I've also lost my ability to browse and thus need something to do bites.

Steam should work offline.

Apparently Darkest Dungeon 2 will be an Epic Games exclusive first.

Well that's unfortunate. There's still a glimmer of hope.

It'll only be on Epic Games during Early Access. Since I can't recall ever purchasing a game on Early Access and it'll have the same release date across all platforms (AFAIK) it won't actually affect my buying habits.

I will still engage in plenty of Darkest Dungeon themed Doomery regardless however.
