I'll be getting the first covid shot today. Due to some "right hand meet left hand" non-communication I get to enjoy a 10-day quarantine too.

I dusted off the old at-home tests my parents gave me last winter and tried them out, and they both came back positive.

Keep yourself hydrated. I was basically without symptoms except that it I lost a near fatal amount of fluid fighting the damn thing off and ended up needing a three day IV drip to unscrew my kidneys.

The new strain seems to be less brutal in terms of how it impacts you but yeah it sucks you dry which can be fatal if you aren't careful.

Ouch!

You should get a 3rd opinion because medical stuff has an expiration date after which it's no longer trustworthy.

Most most convience stores with a pharmacy (like Wallgreens) advertise the fact that they can provide things like COVID vaccinatons and flu shots OTC.

The city's testing site won't be open until Monday unfortunately, so I won't be able to get another opinion until then.

When my big sis Euphie stumbled into the St. Vincent's ER using a cane in 2019 the ER doctor's and nurses were wondering "How the hell are you still alive?" and said "You aren't going home today." within minutes.

It took 10 days and a PICC line to unfuck her electrolyte levels.

She was actually overhydrated.

COVID tests are as reliable as flipping a coin - so you came up with "heads" or "tails" twice in a row :D

Most of my relatives and some friends had it, with varying degrees of severity, ranging from no symptomes to severe ones, usually depending on lifestyle and age.
Just one gatality in the extended family, a woman over 85 with a bunch of per-existing health conditions that was like "Imma dyin at home, keep your doctors away..."

I think I had it, since I caught a rather severe cold around the time before the first lock-downs started, but when I got myself tested there were no antibodies.
