Perhaps I'm just cynical, but given the average American is nearly constantly high on "freedom juice", I think they'll eat this shit up like it's five star cuisine (the good kind).
Actually. Most Americans that I know are just the kind of people to keep their heads down, work, and spend their entire lives in their regional/family bubble. The 'Freedom Juice' is more for those of us who have realized that Freedom doesn't stay that way. And that it requires work to keep.

Oh Hell Yeah!

Lee Greenwood's God Bless the USA Bible has now received an official endorsement from President Donald J. Trump!

Just FYI, since there is confusion on this. Lee Greenwood, the individual who sang 'God Bless the USA' and many other famous pieces of country music, released this version of the King James Bible almost two years ago I think. It's basically a large print King James Bible with founding American documents like the US Constitution, Bill of Rights and Declaration of Independence contained within it as well.

They just got Trump to hawk the item. Whether he did it for any compensation, I dunno but buying this AFAIK doesn't fund the Trump Campaign or Trump personally AFAIK.

Still, they did pick the week leading up to Easter to get Trump to promote it.

Yeah this is just weird American Protestant idolatry. Ironic when it’s the Protestants who bitch about art and icons.

But it’s ok as a Christian to like the Constitution and think it’s a good idea, for how to run a government but only as long as you remember it is a purely secular document and it’s not divinely inspired like our Bible. Putting it next to or inside the Bible the word of god is pretty freaking heretical.

It's an incredibly stupid move.

Have you actually read the Bible? He just lost practically everyone who has read it and does follow it.

if you have to pay for a copy of religious text that religion is doing it wrong.
There are so many ways to get a free bible, it's funny.

I'm Christian, and I have no problem with a company that prints the bible look for ways to pay for it's operations and support their own families at the same time.

I wonder how many bibles that same printing company have/are/will be giving away.

Trump is helping sell a Bible with American founding documents added. It's rather topical.

You seem to take offense whenever religion or Christianity in particular are mentioned. I'm sorry about that.

But it comes up sometimes and sometimes that sparks a discussion.

On a site built on free speech it seems odd to keep saying that people are talking too much about something again.
It is a widely held belief that nothing should be added to or taken away from the word of God. And as much I love the Constitution or other founding documents. That would be adding to the word of God. Not a fan of this.

Hold on are the documents actually mixed in with the Bible to try and show how the constitution is biblical or is it just a complication book that has the documents in the end? If it's the later I don't think that's an issue. If it's the former then yeah you risk adding to.

I'm not religious but I can actually understand the problem people have with the US documents in there. Seems kinda tacky. Perhaps in bad taste.

its honestly not something you do at this stage of the wests civilizational history, but in time you could see things like the magna carta, us consitution and other important documents put in the very back of the bible as a way of showing that the new empire is a continuation of the biblical past as a way to get legitimacy and stop the chaos.

We are no where near that point so right now its tacky instead of an afirmination that the new universal empire of the west is the culimation of western history.

That's a completely fair take. Thinking about it...I'd like to see that Bible sold so that America's documents can be readily separated from the Bible as two different texts.

Two book set in a slip case? On the one a copy of the King James Bible. With the documents in question in their own book along with how they relate to or are inspired by the Bible.

That would be a much better idea.

I'm also Christian. It's one of the given names everyone I'm tracebly related to gets. The mere idea that you would think it's acceptable to require - instead of ask - someone to pay for a copy of a religious text is something I find highly offensive.

He's tapping into people by not only providing a new print of it (giving it a shiny new coat of paint, basically), but one bundled with the most "American" documents you can find out there. Americans are gonna eat this shit up. shrug

Even I, an outsider, can see this tactic working. It's not going to cause most Christians to abandon him.
As an American, they may be two great tastes, but they do not taste great together.

Have you found any bookstores that carry religious texts but don't offend you?

Since I'm usually not looking for a copy of the Bible it's almost never been an issue.

Although, there was Library, LTD back when I was in college. They kinda got pissy when I asked for old ASHRAE handbooks.

The average christian in America

1) Doesn't care because it's not trying to add to scripture, it's combining two books for convenience
2) Thinks its an epic troll and loves to see it

Only lefty concern trolls think it's blasphemy and care more than a quick laugh and a head shake

I wouldn't call it blasphemy. I'm not even sure how one would argue it's blasphemous. Then again, I'm not sure how it's trolling either.

edit: If anyone is out there arguing that "this proves Christian Nationalists think the Constitution is the Third Testament" I will join you in pointing and laughing.

Some people are very stupid, and stuff like this will make some hicks think that the Constitution, or the bill of rights is God given, and part of Christianity when it is not.
