United States Trump v Biden 2, electric boogaloo

Since it’s looking increasingly likely that Trump and Biden will be the candidates for 2024, I figured I’d open this up for discussion. However, I think it’s too far out to determine who would win, given the various lawsuits, the volatile international and domestic situation. So, let’s see what discussion this will bring!

1) The charges against Trump: is he guilty, what will the verdict be, and would a guilty verdict prevent him from running?

2) The Hunter Biden Laptop is finally getting some attention. Will anything come of it? Will there be legal or political consequences for Bidens run?

3) What will be the top five issues of the election? I.e, immigration, economy, covid, etc etc. Basic assumption here is that the characters and scandals of both candidates will be on the ballot.

4) Finally, will neither Trump or Biden win their primary? Who replaces them?

1) I don’t think that he’s guilty on this count, but I don’t really know enough about the details to make that determination. I think that it would be very difficult for him to be barred from running, but I do think the democrats want him to run because they believe they can beat him in the general.

2) while I doubt there will be legal consequences, I hope there will be political ones. But I’d put money on this being forgotten and virtually irrelevant by the time of the election for the general public.

3) economy, Ukraine/China/Russia, Immigration, trans everything (schools, rights, surgeries, etc.), abortion.

4) while I hope that both parties put forward someone different, I have no faith that they will. And while Desantis is the clear front runner for taking over from Trump, Newsome is the only person I can think of for realistically standing a chance for the democrats.

I’m posting this outside the OP so that there isn’t a wall of text and the questions are clear. If I should change this pls let me know.

1. Blatantly political charges.

2. Biden doesn't stand a chance in hell of winning the election through anything except cheating. He's been a failure on every single aspect except for being tough on China, which isn't that high up in most people's priorities.

3. Immigration or Economy will be the #1 issue, the other will be #2. The Ukraine War may be over by then, it may be close to over, it may be deadlocked. Too far out to tell. 'Trans' stuff will probably be #3, unless even more egregious shit continuously comes to light, in which case it will become #1. Past that, it's too far out to tell.

4. I give Vivek Ramswamanay (sp?) an outside chance at taking the Republican primary, if DeSantis is smart he'll continue to stay out of it. If he goes in, he might win, but he'd probably piss off a lot of Trump's base if he manages to unseat him.

The Democrat Primary is a farce at this point. Biden will win, as the party's higher-ups have mandated, unless he actually dies or similar first.

Love that Vivek. Doubt he will win though. even if Trump doesn't endorse him I would vote for him. Still I hope he gets on that debate stage. It promises to be good.

As for issues? in no particular order Economy, Immigration, Jan 6th (no way the dems let it go), Covid (Biden will try and use this to say he got dealt a shit hand), BRICS (China will be the big point if the Ukraine war ends otherwise it will be Russia). Trans stuff might knock off one of these I guess. It is red meat to both bases.

Can we have a candidate under 75 years old?
Vivek isn't 75. unfortunately when I tried to make a thread no one commented on it. I don't think anyone reacted to it either. so if he can't drive any engagement even on a site like ours? as much as I like him I don't give him great odds.

He's just starting to get some recognition. Give it time.

I had not heard of him. He's 11 years younger than me, which is fun for me

Just going to turn into a pile of dust over here.

Stix continues to be an idiot who placed more emphasis on form over function and so shits on DeSantis because he's an only Trumper.

Seriously, I don't get why you all give him the time of day, the dude is literally an ex-satanist now paganist who believes in things like the Burning Times of Europe and the Pan-European Witch Cult "hypothesis". While he's made some interesting commentary in the past, the simple fact he even gives those ideas the time of day shows that he cannot be intellectually trusted because he inherently gives into delusional levels of confirmation bias.

Basically, his thesis is that Putin's using reverse psychology to get Biden reelected.

Mostly, it's on account of him being a weak, brittle puppet who's crippled the US economy, alienated Western allies by withdrawing the US Military's presence, and China having dirt on the Biden family that they'll no doubt looking to use some day.

Given this, Styx thinks Putin wants Biden to get a second term by issuing negative statements about him via RT and other outlets. Little counterintuitive at first glance, but seeing as Russia's not well-liked in the West (especially nowadays), he's probably figuring the American public and institutions will go "Whatever Putin dislikes must be good. Putin dislikes Biden — therefore, Biden good!" and vote accordingly. After all, Putin was a ranking KGB agent once, so it'd be absurd to think he doesn't understand something as elementary as reverse psychology.

Trump, meanwhile, performed strong-arm diplomacy with Eastern nations and empowering the US Military without launching a slew of new wars; under his watch, there was no invasion of Ukraine at large (Crimea notwithstanding). Now that he's gone and has been replaced by Biden, though, Putin senses weakness and went ahead with it.

At least... that's Styx's reading of things. You're free to disagree, obviously, though it'd help if @S'task explained what's so wrong with his latest take.

Putin banned a bunch of uniparty like obama and other people from entering his country. Styx thinks Putin would like Biden to stay in power since it results in a weaker US. Biden is shit at the economy. shit at the border. shit at handling the market for energy. incoherent on a good day as far as foreign relations go. then consider the chinese blackmail they have on him and his family. Styx argues that this is a big brain reverse psychology move. as if he attacks the establishment types they can use that to rally some support to keep orange man out of office. your mileage may vary on that. He is exKGB so there is an idea that he could do that. not sure how effective it would be.

Styx is an ex-satanist guy who practices the occult. I kinda just ignore the whole thing there. Styx is a rather libertarian guy not really a right wing conservative Christian. he has biases and blindspots because of that just like others would. his takes and analysis are usually good. or at least thought provoking.

Eh, that's fair.

In this case, I'd say his thesis about Putin using reverse psychology to prop up Biden for 2024 is pretty solid, and would be absolutely hilarious if proven correct down the line. Certainly, it's an "unorthodox" take, but coming from Styx, that shouldn't surprise us.

This reminds me of the 1986 rematch for the TX Governor's Mansion between Clements vs White.

The ammount of Fortification ™️ will be absolutely insane.

I am torn between a Trump win and suddenly election denial is valid and virtuous or Trump win on the election day before Biden pulls ahead thanks to mail in with a unprecedented win of 97 million votes to Trump's 92 million.
