What If? What if the Emperor altered the gene seeds...for NULLS!

So...

WHAT IF the Emperor, realizing the absolute crap that Psykers do to open the mortal world more for the Warp opted to remove the Psyker gene from his Sons and Legions? Instead, he replaced it with the genes for Blanks like the Silent Sisterhood!!

How would this impact the fall of the Primarchs? Would Chaos be able to make it happen?

Do you think this mean all of Magnus' children would be Nulls instead of become Psykers?

How much would this just change and how?

Primarchs are basically at least partially based on psychic stuff, so that'd probably be a non-starter. Null marines may also fall under this.

Oh, the Primarchs are definitely warp empowered to some degree.

I guess the question then is, Does the Emperor even try to make Primarchs with the goal of severing as much of his/Humanity's protectors from the warp?

If Emps still makes them, how much of his control and influence over them was a side effect or outright use of the Emperor's presence in the Warp?

I don't see Null-Marines being as huge a burden since they didn't have as direct a relation to the Emperor.

The Imperium beats Chaos. Nullmarines and Nullprimarchs are incorruptible. There's a good chance that between them and the Imperial Truth convincing the entirety of humanity to disbelieve in supernatural phenomena, the Chaos Gods can be killed or at least weakened into irreverence.

There are really only two problems:
  • Without the Emperor's psychic influence, how loyal will the Nullmarines and Nullprimarchs be to Him.
  • Lorgar's crisis of faith ending with the Void Dragon rather than the Chaos Gods and Pariahs.

Hmm ...

Not really all that familiar with WH40k lore but I'm guessing that if humanity wasn't telepathic in any way they'd stand a better chance against those who are simply becauase stuff like the Ork's "the red one's go faster" would be met by a wall of disbelief absolutely stopping such things from functioning and require everyone else to obey the laws of physics when going after humanity.

It wouldn't work?

All indications are that the geneseed is at least partially an inherently warp active thing. You can't make a Null Primarch and trying to implant regular geneseed into a Null would just result in rejection.

It also pre-supposes that the Emperor didn't plan the Heresy. Because everything he did appears almost purpose made to put him on the Golden Throne and worshipped as a god by the only species still able to manipulate the warp on a galactic scale.

The Space Marines, and Primarchs, were designed to conquer the galaxy and wipe out potential competing powers and ideologies. None of them were made to rule or create a stable state.

The Imperial bureaucracy was an absolute joke that barely even pretended it was trying to be anything but an autocratic dictatorship with a schizophrenic bureaucracy. This despite the fact that the Emperor has a super human intellect and has lived through basically all of human history; if he wanted to create a stable polity he absolutely could have done so, and yet he was manifestly uninterested.

The Imperial Truth was a blatant farce, and for a man who professed to despise religion EVERYTHING he did seems purpose designed to ape religious faith. You don't make yourself a four meter tall adonis clad in golden armor with a halo around your head and a psychic field that makes everyone you meet see you as the most absolutely perfect being and emperor to ever be conceived of if you are trying to deny your divinity.

You don't let Angry-Lad, BATMAN!, or Emo Cyclops behave the way they did and get away with their antics if you actually care. Angron should have been tossed in stasis or killed, Curze was a complete whackjob, and Magnus should have had his entire legion put to death when the flesh change showed up before getting himself shackled to the Emperor's side for a good education in why warp fuckery is not to be fucked with. But, again, the Emperor never gave any indication that he intended long term viability for basically any of the Primarchs or legions.

Ten thousand years with quadrillions of beings praying daily to the God Emperor, ten thousand years of every human soul being dedicated to the Emperor upon their death (the number who don't sincerely and fanatically worship the Emperor is literally so small as to not even be rounding error on the scale of humanity), a thousand psykers per day fed directly to the Emperor. Over ten thousand years that is 3.65 billion psykers directly sacrificed to the Emperor.

By everything that we know about the Warp, the creation of Warp entities, and how belief shapes reality in 40k; the Emperor is being fed a feast of psyker power beyond anything that any entity has enjoyed since at least the height of the Aeldari Empire. You think that occurred by accident?

---
If the Emperor wanted general purpose Null soldiers then he would already have them. He created the Sisters, he created the Ordo Sinestro, he probably created the Culuxes. All three were highly limited forces kept under the Imperial Households direct control and only deployed in very limited manner for specific objectives; virtually all of which were internal policing operations.

We saw what the Emperor did when he decided a specialized anti-demon force was needed; and it wasn't blanks. It was the Grey Knights.

Oh, I'm in agreement with most of your points!

I'm just trying to posit the results of a differently inspired Emperor.

Getting an Emperor inspired to field Null Marines seems really out there and likely not possible.

Again, basically every indication is that the geneseed/conversion process from human to space marine is inherently warpcraft of some description. Which means no Blank conversions.

At an absolute minimum, you would need a Blank Primarch. And that is an inherent insanity as Primarchs are one of the most warp connected existences in all of 40k.

The better choice for Blank forces is full conversion cyborgs.

Granted, it again raises the question of why? This was the Great Crusade era, not the 41st millennia. Warp fuckery exists but nothing at the scale of needing full blown specialized armies to deal with it.

And if the Emperor needed full blown anti warp armies? Well he might have already had them. The Black Fleet, the Sisters of Silence, the Custodes, the Ordo Sinestra. A fleet larger than basically any other under his personal control and crewed by Blanks, an army of blanks under his personal control who could be trusted to keep his secrets, a special forces elite more powerful than anything short of a Primarch level threat, a force of titans specifically built to rape warp entities.

Note the forces who were fighting in the War for the Webway and were overwhelmingly NOT active in the Heresy.

The real use for Blanks in 40k isn't so much for ground forces or armies, it is for bureaucrats. Administrators, scribes, police, judges, etc. that are immune to the insidious corruptions of Chaos
