Germany had a lot of things going for it in World War II. Indeed, it seems its real undoing was the ideology of Nazism and how its vicious cuntery drove their enemies into "war of survival" mode. I said in another thread that if the Germans had shown the slightest respect for the rules of war, the Soviet people would have welcomed them with open arms and Stalin's regime would have collapsed.
They would still have to seize food from the Soviet people to feed their armies.
Domestic German production was insufficient and they actually expected to import food from the East to feed Germany.
Which would cause resentment.
Which then leads to partisans.
And then the vicious cycle begins.

That said, the Germans could have very easily put all those Red Army POWs to work on the newly captured farmlands in the East, or used them as a labor force to change railway gauges and other general, heavy labor tasks instead of locking them in a camp and then starving them to death.
It's a real pity that Schuebner Richter died in the Munich Putsch, because it was only after his death that the whole anti-slavism thing crept into Nazism by way of Himmler and his band of idiots.

they lacked food, becouse idiots keep kolchoz on most of former soviet terrytories. If they gave land to peasants, there would be enough food for everybody - just like after Stolypin reforms.

Due to this thread devolving into an argument about ww2 rather than anything about actually bad alt-history i’ve now decided to like an autocrat ban all discussion pertaining to events after the year 1900.
Please note the OP's request and respect it, else we may start getting annoyed.

"PLEASE STAND BY"

To add to the above statement and be fair to the OP as well as the people involved in the debate of post 1900 topics, I have made a new thread to discuss matters Post-1900 here.

Now back to the debate!

Book is actually good written, but entire idea is ridiculous.
Orson Scott Card Pastwatch:The redemption of Christopher Columbus.
First - we live in TL arleady changed, becouse in oryginal TL some indians after defeating Aztecs come and conqer Europe making mass human sacifizes.
Not Possible - technological gap was too great.

Then, humans from our TL in 23 century changed it again, making Columbus stay and indian create empire which was nice, friendly and made world almost earthy paradise.Again, not possible - even with people from 23 century technological gap is still too big.

All in all - good story, but disaster as alternate history.

That sounds pretty awful, but how does it compare to Crosstime Engineer at being in bad taste?

Well,i read only first and amazonian novel, but it is even more improbable. One person ,even with better health and engineer knowledge, would be unable to made so many changes.
If he instead help win at Legnica battle and gave Poland 18th century technology,it would be plausible.
He also clearly do not undarstandt how people thought. His legalised harems are something which in medieval times simply would not be accepted.

Orson Card at least send 2 persons with plan to made changes, and he is far better writer then Frankowski, too.

The worst pre-1900 AH I've read (besides Probability Broach, which is too easy a target) is Jim Smitty's Gonna to Know We Were Here.

Where to begin? First off, the grammar and spelling were painful, with at least one major error in every one of the posts I read. The author says he has dyslexia, and I have no reason to doubt him, but there's such a thing as a spell checker. In the worst offense, he creates a conspiracy called the Southern Cliche. No, that's not a typo.

Secondly, Jim Smitty seemingly could not go more than two or three posts without using the syllable "shit" -- not from the characters, from the author. There was a new battleship design, and foreign countries "shit a brick". Polio was something of which people are "scared shitless". He also used the phrase "balls to the wall" in abundance.

The content was not much better than the format. The "POD" was a group of time travellers arrive in the 19th century, intent on making America even more dominant in the 20th century than it already was -- in their words. There's a bit of window dressing in the form of protecting America from a terror attack in 2011, but really it's an excuse for them to guide America through a whole lot of diplomatic and military and technological successes, for reasons.

Wasn't the plan mostly to introduce time travelers with bioengineered less-lethal strains of european diseases prior to OTL first contact, so that the native americans would have acquired an immunity? Without plagues decimating their enemies, the conquest of north america would probably end up playing out more like the conquest of africa, there'd be sufficient surviving locals to create a perpetual guerrilla resistance and as soon as european cultural norms changed sufficiently that 'whatever happens we have got the maxim gun' invasions justified by being stronger than the invaded ceased to be socially acceptable, the locals could bounce back and reestablish control over their territory.

Yes,they saved indians by introducing non-lethal strains. It was probable.Improbable was creating Indian empire with better then 16th century technology.
Still much better then Frankowski.
If you want good book made by him, then two-space war is great/with Dave Grossman/ about galaxy war using ships sailing in two-space.Yep,FTL using sails, but it is good.and as probable as any other FTL.
