Who else dreads this year?

If the Democrats manage to cheat their way to victory in the Georgia Senate elections, then I suspect they will try to pack the Supreme Court within their first year in power. It would be rather difficult to achieve some of their more radical policies with conservatives in the majority in the court and they have promised a lot to their radical wing.

Of course if they do that then it is almost inevitable that the Union will dissolve in some form of another. It might take a few months for things to get rolling, but in the wake of the Supreme Court being packed I would expect to see conservative areas of the country engage in mass civil disobedience, nullification, and ultimately demand secession.

Whether that would dissolve into civil war at that point is hard to say. It's certainly possible that cooler heads on the leftist's side would permit a peaceful breakup, considering that the Democrat's leadership would be unlikely to survive a civil war regardless of the outcome.

While a successful peaceful secession wouldn't be easy, especial since the Red Blue split is mostly an urban versus rural thing, it would certainly be better than a civil war. With how interlocked our economy is, especially in regards to food, a significant portion of the population would almost die in any sort of internal war. And given how dependent some parts of the world are on our food exports it is likely that mass starvation would break out in many foreign countries.

So yes, I dread this year. And I dread next year even more.
There isn't going to be any court packing, even assuming they win both the Georgia seats.

Fact is a couple of democrats have already said no to it, which means they would have needed the landslide the bad polling predicted was coming to get such a thing through.

court packing is the absolute nuclear option.

Also once again I don't think the Biden presidency is a 'win' for the democrats.

He comes prepackaged with a scandal worse then water gate which isnt going go away, with a lousy economy, a party that will go into civil war soon, with greatly damaged legitimacy, and the populists have more or less secured power over the republican party because they just grew their support.

What your witnessing weather trump wins or loses is the birth of the populares party. After trump I predict we will get one last chance for peaceful reform one last populist leader and if he/she fails then civil war becomes invitable.

So surreal you'd think it was an onion post.

It's just a name. Adolf used to be a very common name before WW2. My grandpa Al was actually named Adolf, but he, uh, stopped going by that for reasons.

And there are still a few Hitlers around. I went to school with a Beatrice Hitler. You should have seen our history teacher when he called roll. It was great.

Of course it's just a name but thanks to a failed artist the name and surname isn't popular any more.

It's an unfortunate combination when the two meet, though.

Raich is a last name that sounds the same as reich. There was a very successful skier with that last name, so every time he was third... Of course the first time it was the funniest, when TV commentator walked into that one.

In Europe it usually gets shortened into Adi or Dolf/Dolph. It's interesting that people in CE Europe were still getting those names after WWII. Hell, one of the more popular singers in Slovenia is Adi Smolar who was born 15 years later, but in a system that was very hostile to anything smelling of Germany.

How bad is it the next few years?

if you are lucky all the money will stay in the financial market, generating bubbles, like they did in the past. So bigger versions of the housing bubble. If you are unlucky, well everyone has been hamfistedly comparing the last few years to Weimar Germany, but throwing in the universal loss of trust in pretty much every institution, why not throw in another similarity going forward.

I'm pretty sure that's not unusual. Physical dollars are frequently sent to the fed to be destroyed and are replaced with new ones. On top of this, there would be a lot of automatic replacement if a new form of bill was created, for security reasons. Inflation hasn't been bad, so I wouldn't worry about this unless it's a lot higher than last years.

The graphs are kinda kooky.

Edit: not all dollars ever I think but graph still looks just dumb.

What about when it's time for the boomers to retire at 2022 as Cherico keeps stressing?

Then you get a deflationary death sprial. See japan, or the great depression in the US.
Although the physical notes aren't what I worry about it is the immense amount of money creation, not the physical printing. Although no new design was issued this year some may have been destroyed based on early fears of the kung pao cough sticking to paper money.

Is that currency as in inflation or the physical dollars themselves? Because one isn't as bad as the other. Frequently old notes are taken out of circulation because they're torn up, lost or the like and new ones have to be printed out. There's always going to be some amount of attrition in that regard and considering there are probably people out there who are trying to physically clean their notes because they're afraid of the virus that attrition has probably gone up. Now inflation on the other hand would be concerning.

We got another one.

Hilariously one of those got torn down and replaced with a cross by some dudes chanting christ is king. They also said and I quote here "Christ is king in this country. We don’t want illegal aliens from Mexico or outer space. So let’s tear this bitch down, " so the media promptly called them racist. I wonder how long this one will last.

Mish let the charts tell the story which is that the money supply is increasing with assurances that inflation is still low.
