So today the idea hit me of Davy Jones and his crew aboard The Flying Dutchmen in ASOIAF. My immediate though was "Isn't that setting already screwed over even without him?" And my response to that was "Why the heck not?

So the War Of The Five Kings has just started and Davy Jones and his ship and crew awake in the Stepstones in his arms The Dead Mans chest and it's key. His powers remain exactly the same and to top that off he still can control/summon the Kraken to do his bidding.

Just how much trouble can one seabound pirate with a relatively advanced ship cause and what do you think he will do in this new world?

He and his crew have raw destructive power and invulnerability but they don't have enough manpower to occupy/hold any territory. They'll probably just hire themselves out as mercenaries and make a ton of money. His ship can just surface right outside any coastal city - such as King's Landing - and start bombarding it. IIRC the only coastal city that might be immune to cannonfire might be Casterly Rock.

Only problem for Davy and crew would be the dragons, dragonglass, and the Others/Walkers, as those are magic in nature and might be able to actually kill Davy and his crew. But if the Flying Dutchman could rise up out of the ocean at will, I see no reason why it can't submerge at will either. As long as Davy's crew sights an incoming dragon before said dragon gets close enough to breathe fire on them, the Dutchman can escape.

Don't the Iron Islands heavily use squids in their motifs and worship a drowned god that resembles Cthulhu? I imagine Jones is going to appear to be their god in the flesh to them. If Jones plays his cards right he could enlist them and use the Dutchman to break up enemy fleets and invulnerable sailors to wipe out strongholds, while using the islanders as cannon fodder to occupy territory.

Casterly Rock the fortress is obscenely big and would be pretty much immune.

Lannisport, the city outside of Casterly Rock, would be vulnerable.

In any case, IIRC, wasn't Davy Jones main goal to lift his curse? If I'm not remembering wrong, he probably fucks off to Asshai once he hears that's where all the magic is.

If not... There aren't really a lot of important naval battles in Game of Thrones, and in terms of piracy, he's far better off targeting the free cities than Westeros.

Davy Jones & his crew will wreck any commerce they find. They are likely immune to the creatures of the sea and able to escape dragons unlike other ships.

Excellent head hunters to be hired by factions. Imagine someone hiring them to waste all the Lannister shipping and ports, but only after they are hired to ambush the Lannisters heads at sea and kill them.

He'll have all the recruits for his crew and cannon fodder he could ever want from among the Ironborn who now worship him as the Drowned God incarnate. Between armies of Ironborn with cannons and matchlocks and his own powers, he'll probably end up curbstomping all the mortal powers of Westeros, then fighting an endless war with the Night King for world domination.
